I have always hated the ford Slocus, no matter what you do to them they will always be slow. But damn... this one is really hard to hate. 350hp... agressive curves.... But...... its a freakin ford focus. But some part of me really.... kinda.... likes it. :(

Have you even driven a Focus? Ever? An SVT Focus? The Focus is Ford's Cavalier, but the SVT is a great car, albeit slightly lacking power though the handling makes up for it in my book.

Actually, Ive got to admit. Ive never driven one. Never wanted to either. I raced against a couple "modified" ones back when i had my Stock Auto GSX and left them in the dust with no problems what so ever. And i have always hated the looks of em.

Congrats, you beat a 100whp car that had an intake and exhaust. :) The hatches are decent cars, but the only way you get good power out of them is with a turbo and built bottom end. There's a couple locally making decent power. Again, the SVT handles better than any car you've owned, though only makes 170hp at the crank. :) I do hate the facelift they did in 2005, and the second generation is just plain ugly.

Not pointless hate, just personal opinion/preference. Have always hated the look and lack of straightline power.

I too think the regular Focus is a POS, but the RS is a totally different beast :)

Well no shit, it's an economy car, and you've never driven the SVT. The SVT isn't fast by any means but it's fun to drive, like a Miata.

I read an interview with one of the designers and he said the idea of AWD was toyed with, but they decided the advantages didn't justify the cost.

Which knowing ford they would have put in a 4wd system like my truck. Drive shaft going to the rear wheels, with a transfer case on the rear section of the car, then ANOTHER driveshaft powering the front wheels going from the rear to the front of the car. Worst system ever.

Uhhh, plenty of trucks have been designed with the transfercase under the middle of the chassis, driven by one main shaft which then splits the power to the front and rear. Look at off road trucks and it's nearly all you see.

Not the case on the 2002 ford exploder 4x4. I have two driveshafts. Ill post up picks when i get home today.

edit: i dont think you are fully understanding. It doesnt just have a transfer case in the middle with two half shafts, it has a full drive shaft going from the transmission to the rear wheels, then a transfer case at the rear diff with a full shaft going to the front wheels.

Actually, Ford builds really cool cars in Europe, but they have never come to America. Funny how Ford is also very profitable in Europe. Hmmm.
