2g awd swap left front axle problem
I'm having a problem with the outer cv boot popping off the cup, after about 100miles of driving. The car is a 95 eclipse, that was a gs-t that I converted to awd. I bought a 95 parts car and used every part that was on that car. I checked around and made sure that the intermediate shaft that I had got from that parts car was the right one. That seems to be right. I know the hanger bearing (the hanger bearing seems to be good on the current one) is different for 97-99. But, I don't know if the length is any different. The axle is a re-man from oreillies. The car is lowered. The front end is tight. There is nothing rubbing the boot or anything like that. The clamp stay's on the boot. The boot just slips off and all the grease comes out.
So, what I've come up with so far is: A: The axle boot that is on the re-man axle looks like they are putting the small part of the boot to far away from the joint. It looks stretched out just sitting straight. B: The 97-99 intermediate shaft is needed from some reason or another? C: The car is sitting to low and putting a funny angle on the joint. Please any idea's would be helpful. |

I'd get them to replace the axle. if the boot is pulled away like that, it will pop off as you are stating. Those clamps are also not hte best in the world.

Re: 2g awd swap left front axle problem
Got a few people on tuner's saying its the suspension. It still the fwd springs in there. So I'm going to throw the stock awd stuff that came with the parts car for now and see what happens.

GL. Just different weight/spring rates that's effecting it?

lol... The cobra doesn't give me NEARLY as many problems as my little orange pain in the ass... Oh...FYI Lowered the car with Eibach AWD springs....Back to having axle issues. :angryfire: Good thing this car has nice paint or it would be rushed to the junk yard. |
Re: 2g awd swap left front axle problem
So the boot is coming off again?

Re: 2g awd swap left front axle problem
It will if I keep driving it. It's got the shimmy back. We are going to try a camber kit, and see if that helps. I made sure when I put the springs in everything was tight, and everything looked ok..Kevin even double checked. Otherwise I'm not sure what else we can do. I'm sick of driving it at stock ride height...I don't like the off roading feel. :)
