I guess the volcanic ash and gasses spewing out is really electrically charged, so thats why the lightning happens. Crazy stuff!

Do they not teach anything in school anymore? The ash rubbing together in the air causes static electricity to build up which causes the lightning. I'm damn near positive I learned that in 6th grade.

Apparently not :/ Because they never taught me that in school, I graduated from WI so that could be the reason lol!
