questions on exhaust housings.

Does anyone know of a cheat sheet on various turbo set-ups? I was planning on running a 7cm^2 housing for my exhaust side and maybe a 14b cartridge? is the 16g cartridge the same?

What is the lowest exhuast housing you can use for a 20g? I know you can mix and match these parts I am just unsure as to which ones make decent power. I am not looking for too much maybe 400 tops...

I could get close with a 14b and 7cm exhaust housing correct? Sorry if this post is all over the place just seeing if anyone knows of approx cfm or HP these combos would create.

Thanks,
Colin

Look under "turbo", there's a nice comparison chart, although it's old, but should provide what you need.

So I could technically run a 8cm^2 on a 14b? Would that be worth the gain in cfm? or not?

Could I get near 40lbs/min doing that or would/should I just try for a bigger compressor housing? say from a 16g or 20g?

I'm not sure the compressor wheel on a 14b would even be able to keep up to a 8cm turbine housing. Would probably just make it laggier with a little more top end. It would be damn hard getting 40lbs/min out of a 14b. I have a friend that is pretty much maxing out his Evo 3 16G (with 2.3, 272's, E85, the works) and he is hitting 40lbs/min at 30-31psi.

If you wanted to use an 8cm turbine housing, I would do a 16g.

Find a Hahn Super 16G.

You could also run a 20g with the 7cm housing, thats a pretty common setup.

haha, funny you mention that, I think Julian still has the one I sold to him. Those have a small 16g compressor wheel in a TD06 compressor housing, and a 10cm turbine housing. Laggy for a small 16g, but I made 250 awhp/awtq on shane's dyno with one running shitty 91oct pump gas.

That was like a 10cm housing if I remember correctly.

Hmm..

Is there anyway to replace just a compressor wheel and housing, and keep the turbine housing and wheel? Aren't they all balanced seperately?

Re: questions on exhaust housings.

yes they are balenced seperatly, and you should be able to put any normal mitsu compressor on there cause the turbine shaft is the same.

Is there anyway to calculate CFM or LBS/min by having an inducer and exducer and housing?

does anyone know what a 14b can flow max? compared to a 16g or 20g?
