'96 sc300 hi miles, how much is it worth?
I have an opportunity to pick up a '96 SC300 that needs a lot of work.
It is Auto and the car has 260k miles on it and both the driver and pass. seat are pretty torn up. Just wondering what this would be worth since I have no clue about these cars. Thanks Aaron |

96 = ugly body style, automatic - not rare, mega high mileage for a non rare car....$3500 is the max that car's worth if it is in pristine condition.
I just picked up a black on black 97 manual. :) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...d/100_1872.jpg |

Yes its down in OKC. Its pretty beat up no rear seats the fronts need replacing, would make a good project or beater i guess.

Congrats, wasn't your white one a AT? I don't remember, I'm glad you chimed in cause you are the only person I know that knows about these cars.
Anywho this one is pretty beat up, so let me know what you think it would be worth in say beater condition? oh yeah eye heart 2JZ, no LSx here. |

For what you're looking at with a messed up interior, 260k miles, and it being an auto, I'd say it depends on what color it is....Probably $2k is what I'd pay if even that, maybe $1500-color/interior color dependant. The things to look for on the cars are: watery/foggy/sun faded headlights sagging door hinges needles on the gauge cluster that burn out the climate control display ink bleeding and running all into the display cracked vents cracked window trims dead rear trunk shocks that hold it up blown rear shocks-you can tell when you drive it on the highway it'll sway over bumps and feel dangerous ummmm.... i think thats all I can think of off the top of my head for now. Parts are not cheap to replace though. Headlights in good condition are about $300 each new, same with tail lights. Used ones are usually about $100-150, window trims are like $150 each, hinges are about $100 the 97-00 body panels/grilles, moldings/tail lights (if you're planning on updating the look) are $2-300 each piece and will total about $1500-1700 to complete and then add on the cost of paint. Lexus badging itself is about $175 from the dealer, maybe $30-50 used from someone. A manual swap complete... will run you about $800-1200 depending on where/how you get the tranny/parts. All mkiv Supra coilovers, brakes, sway bars, front strut bar, na supra anything, LS400 brakes, wheels/offset will all work and bolt onto the car, even the catback if you make it single exit and extend it 6 inches. |

Ok, makes sense why this guy and his friend are giving up on it then.
Thanks for the info. Are you keeping the black one for yourself? |

if you can get that car for like $1500 and the compression is still solid, i'd do it. Get some supra seats in there, turn it into a track car or something, it'd probably be worth it. |

Cher hit it right on the head. A fixer-upper is worth maybe half of KBB private party. That being said, they are a very good place to start for something that you are going to mod. I'm very happy with mine. :sasmokin:

I wish I could but my priorities have changed in the last year and I will basically be putting cars on the back burners and turning more to wrenching to make up for it.
I was just hoping to flip it, so I guess if someone wants me to check out the SC for them let me know. |
