I have a legitimate question. What is the democratic reasoning behind the closed-door negotiations of the bill? Everthing in complete secrecy? And how the full text didn't come out until just a day or less before the bill was voted on? Seriously, what happened to Obama's promise of openness? Things are more closed off than I have ever seen them. Isn't that like... inherently against what the democratic party stands for?

Pelosi claimed it was done with full transparency, so you clearly don't know what you're talking about. ;)

Every time they came out with a plan for heathcare it was completely ripped apart for insane reasons. Not because it was a bad plan but because republicans had nothing to do but squeal about every little piece.
So its like Bill Maher said, "Obama got fed up and said kiss my black ass we are going about it George W bush style" It was the only way it was going to pass. And it did thankfully. now they have the Fix bill that tightens the overhaul up.
do you realise how much money was being spent while all of the bickering was going back and forth? A LOT. Way too much.
Things are not more closed off than the past 8 years under bush. That was some closed off shit. Im just glad they passed something regardless of how unpopular it was. People will bitch and complain about it but 10 years from now people will see it as the norm and the republicans will even be defending it, like medicare was.
I think it speaks volumes that the democrats passed the bill regardless of how it would make them look come reelection time. Lets see some republicans do that. NOT A CHANCE.
Edit: Also what the closed door plan does is not allow lobbyists to get their say in there. which is a huge problem in washington right now, lobbyists from corperate greedy bastard companies watering down everything that comes through.

You do know that lobbyists write the bills, correct?

Who authored the Health Care bill? And don't say lobbyists, I want names and where they work. Google didn't tell me, so since you claim to know, you better put up or shut the motherfuck up.

That still doesn't make sense to me. Democrats have a majority, so if they vote along party lines, it would pass regardless. There is no need to be secretive...

Also, if you really believe that the democrats who wrote the bill (as well as obama) aren't influenced by big corporations, then you're living in a dream world. big Pharma will be making a killing on this.

Also, there were probably hundreds, if not thousands that were the 'authors' of this bill.

This whole system is fed in the a now-a-days. Screw the health care overhaul, the whole damn system needs an overhaul in my opinion. This partisanship crap is getting to be ridiculous, which should be obvious no matter which side of the line you stand on.

It is very ridiculous. Didn't Rush say he was moving to Canada if this passes? Is he gone yet? lol

Tom clearly thinks it's the best thing ever and his party can do no wrong. Yet because I oppose something that democrats are supporting I get labeled as a liberal republican, even though I voted independent/constitution. Go figure.

One can only assume. No one but the democrats had their hands on the bill until the Friday before the vote, and even then there were reportedly old version of the bill being circulated. No one can truthfully say that anyone knows one damn thing about the bill.

I just hate the fact that you HAVE to carry health insurance now. Not, if you want to, but you HAVE to. And to a certain arbitrary level set by the government. Somehow the government knows my body better than me. And if you don't have it, you will be fined? That's rediculous! I've carried insurance ever since I can remember. And I've used all of about 4 times in my life!! Why should I have to pay for everyone else that goes in for a sniffle?

Just because they say it's a "health care overhaul" doesn't make it good.

There is shit hidden within that bill that nobody has even found yet I'm sure.
