What's That Noise?
 

That's right, it's just my transmission!

For those who don't know what happened...

Recently 5th gear started popping out, I figured it was just the synchro hub going bad so I stayed off the highways and stopped using 5th all together, a few days later as I was pulling out of the Taco Bell drive-thru it sounded like something was dragging on the ground. Here's what happened.

Wait, that's NOT supposed to be outside the transmission? :lol:

lol @ picture! Yep, I picked one up from Steve the other day. Once I can get my car up to Tom's I'll be able to swap it out and take care of some other stuff.

Yeah, it sucks but it's an 18 year old car, so I can't expect too much out of the drivetrain. I knew this transmission wouldn't last forever so I'm glad I saved the extra cash I had. I'm thinking it may very well be the original transmission, which in that case had 184,xxx miles on it. Shit happens. lol

I doubt it I don't think any DSMs have their original transmissions in, I wish I would of kept the $20 special but I'm an idiot.

had that happen to one of the trannys in my old dsm. sucks man!

It's actually not the original trans. When I got the car it had a Galant VR4 trany and t-case in it. That developed 2nd gear grind, so I picked up that one from John (Pushit2.0) a couple years ago, and finally got it installed last spring. Drove on it all of last summer and up till you bought it with no troubles. Mileage on it is unknown. It really surprises me to see that. Shitty luck dude :(

Haha I wish...Still waiting to get it in to a garage where I can tear it apart. Should be soon though. I'll keep you posted.
