I was wondering which intake manifold flows better, a stock 1g or a cyclone intake manifold. Is a cyclone throttle body the same as a 91-94 turbo tb? Thanks, -John

Stock 1G flows better. The throttle body is different from 91-94's.

The cyclone is worthless IMHO.

It looks more restrictive than a stocker. Would a cyclone tb be a good upgrade for a 2g still? Thanks for the help.

It'd be alright if you port matched the head to the intake. But if you're doing that much, you might as well get a better intake. |
I believe its physically larger also, So you may have fitment issues. And my understanding, the cyclone has a valve(that needs to be electronically controlled) that switches between short and long runners, gives you more low end.BTW I have a JDM eprom image that will allow you to run the cyclone from an eprom ecu.

I just added 1g intake and my friend has cyclone intake. Go with 1g intake. It matches and go with 1g 60mm throttle unless you can go bigger with aftermarket. Dont use the throttle from cyclone. Get rid of egr. Use cellulose for 2 gaskets on throttle. Never have vacuum problems then. Better material and all you have to do is cut out. Check FIAV and IAC because you want the car to idle. You will have to re-tune ISC. Match the intake to 1g cylinder and port the runners. You will be happy with the top end hp and gains. If you need 1g cylinderhead look for used one at salvage, but check for cracks, make sure sparkplug holes are not stripped, etc. Also check valve cover screw holes. I don't know about the gains with 2g head, plus intake side of cylinder will not match. Get a lot of gains deep inside the runners with 1g. Hopefully this is helpful to you.

I was reading about the Cyclone mani and it is possible to manually adjust the runners. If you want them open permanently it can be done. I have heard a lot of negatives lately about the Cyclone but if you decide to use it, the runners can be opened without the use of an ECU.

For top-end power a stock 1G manifold does flow more air than the Cyclone will. I can only see the Cyclone being beneficial on possibly a mainly Auto-X car.

Thanks for the help.
