LingLing's Project Thread

Okay, so I guess here's the start of a long project thread.

As of tonight, I have the Symborski bushing kit and the Speed Source shift cable bushing set on the way.

The next order of business is the wheels. Most of you know I bought those Lexus rims off of Kevin when I bought the car. I like them because they're just a simple 5 spoke design. I'm also looking in to getting a center cap that sits flush with the face of the rim.

I have been going back and forth about whether to paint them or leave them chrome. If I were to paint them (Or powdercoat), I'd do them in flat black or a darker gunmetal. I cleaned one up them up and snapped a few photos.

The only thing that's changed on the car so far is the exhaust, which is the 3" APEX'i N1

Nothing serious yet as I don't exactly know what route I want to take yet. It'll for sure be on e85 with a bigger turbo. Just haven't figured out the details yet.

Love the rims! Will you put them on the car first before you decide to paint them? If so I wanna see the pics! :)

Yep! I'm gonna roll em chrome for a while to see if I like them. Once I get them on I'll post some pictures up!

I gotta get new tires, extended studs, wheel spacers and open ended lug nuts but hopefully they'll be on in a few weeks.

I think you'll like the chrome. Black rims are everywhere now. :)

I would, but I don't want to have to pay for a second tune. I'm thinking it'll save me some cash down the road if I put the turbo and everything else on, and then get it tuned for corn.

I have never been a fan of chrome rims, but I agree. For some reason I think I'll like them chrome. I'm just worried they'll look kinda weird if the car's not dropped a bit more, but I guess I'll just have to throw them on and see.

Well I can't say I like the exhaust. IMO, you should have kept the Thermal on there. As I've said before, there's already solid bushings on the trans end of the cables, and I still have the bushings for the base if you still want them. I agree with getting it tuned on E-85. That thing would be a beast with that turbo and about 30 psi.

What turbo is on it? Do you have enough fuel system to even support a big turbo on E85? Big turbos aren't always what they are cracked up to be, unless you have a drag car or can rev the motor really high.

You've been hanging around Swifty too much. That car has plenty left in it, put E85 in there with beg enough injectors and fuel pump then decide if you want a bigger turbo. Like Shane said, big turbos aren't everything.

Re: LingLing's Project Thread

Well, I was going to use the extra cash I have for an e85 tune from Shane, but the transmission decided to take a dump on me in the taco bell drive-thru, so I'll be using what cash I have left to get a new transmission swapped in. Not how I wanted to spend the money, but shit happens.

Just have to wait for Uncle Sam to get me my tax return.

There are a number of guys on tuners that are in the realm of 260-290awhp on less mods and smaller injectors than me on e85. One of them I know is only running a b16g and 850's and he's pushing about 280 to the wheels. So I'm hoping I can break that 300awhp mark with the current set up (Which I should I think).

Since the transmission and transfer case will be out and getting new fluid I'll be changing the rear diff fluid as well. Hopefully I get my tax return and track a transmission down in the next week or two. Hoping to have it back up and running in a few weeks.

I made 292/320 at LSE on 880s back in the day.

Those are some good numbers! Was that on e85?

Sucks about the tranny. What happened?

Re: LingLing's Project Thread

of course pump numbers were 210/192ish

Re: LingLing's Project Thread

Id say your injectors are good for around 320hp with e85. A rough estimate in my head says you will be around 80% duty cycle with 950's at 290hp. Max they could pump is around 350-360 at 100% duty cycle. This is at base fuel presure of 37.5. Id say you have plenty of room with your injectors.
