how often do guys run that type of manifold? home made or who makes them?
Notice the weld i circled holy shit i would shoot myself before doing that.

Funny you should mention it, I just welded one of those back together 2 days ago. I am not a big fan of them at all, the welds are pretty nasty and the "high temp coating" lasts about a week.

That's why I went "Cast" for my manifold. The last tubular manifold I had only lasted 1 month.

The SFP manifolds in AGP's kits have had a pretty good reputation.

Welding something like that can be hard, especially making sure that the weld is clean and good, the only way i'd buy a mani like that is if it was xrayed to make sure that there is no cracks or defects in the welds.

But then again there are other designs that can be implemented, personaly i don't like 4-1 but 2-2-1 would be probably better..

I know, but I was saying, thats one of the first I've heard "cracking" or having to be re welded.

The original welding on the mani was pathetic at best. The clean up wasn't that great and to be honest it isn't really that difficult a weld to make with the right equipment. It is carbon steel so it is pretty forgiving as opposed to stainless and the design gives enough access to be able to get good penetration all the way around.

Just make sure you have enough of shielding gas when you are welding pipe, the best would be in a sealed chamber .. but that can get spendy.

I'd love a polished stainless steel mani :)

Carbon steel is much less concerned about shielding than stainless. The back of the weld doesn't require a back-purge when getting 100% pen like SS would.

My turbo distributor for Garrett turbos if about 4 blocks from SFP. He deals with alot of those manifold and gets some good deals on them. They are popular and if you take the amount of items sold by the number that have issues it's not a bad item. I am not a fan of them but for the cost for it is pretty decent as well.
