Fed ex

Well I finally ordered a Boost gauge the other day from MAP. I decided to track the package to see when it would get here. Instead of going to Minneapolis and then to Sioux Falls like anyother package does that is sent through Minneapolis, Fed ex decided my package should see a little warmer climate first and sent it to their facility in Memphis TN, before sending it to Sioux Falls.

I decided to see how far out of the way that was and Google Maps says about 13 hours or 800 some odd miles. Doesn't really bother me because its not like I need it now but I was just wondering WTF.

LOL thats funny. I bought something online once where it actually arrived in Minneapolis, then went out to CA, then back to MN!

The whole original concept behind FedEx was a hub and spoke system, they used it to pioneer affordable overnight shipping. All packages went via plane to the main in hub in Memphis, got sorted there and went from there out out on planes. That way you might only need 1 plane going from Memphis to Souix City, instead of hundreds of planes from all over the country.

I had the same thing happen. I can't stand fedex. They are the worst shipping company IMO.

We exclusively use Fedex (with the exception of some USPS for international customers) and I couldn't be happier with their pricing and service. Mistakes are going to happen with the shipping volume we do, its all about how they take care of them...

Can't remember the last time I used fedex. Most of my stuff gets shipped through USPS, cause I usually am not on a time frame. That's pretty funny though, at least your boost gauge got to experience some warmer weather before heading back up here lol

Yeah it is crazy. I got it today nice and frosty from the -15 it is here. It said it was going to arrive tom. But doesn't bother me cause it's not like I had to have it right away.

I am happy with MAP it was fast service.

FedEx is great at delivery before estimated :D I'd much rather have that than a day late.

I use fedex to ship a lot of big and heavy parts for many years . I use them because I get 80% off 2day shipping.
I shipped a evo I tranny and t.c. to chi for 45.00,short block to tx for 65.00, ect. they are great for me. I only had 1 problem with them droping a tranny I sent to WA but that was all taken car of for the guy in a few hours he had a check at his door to cover it from fedex. It is great to work for the airlines and get the huge discount.

Wow thats an amazing discount! Can't beat that.

I seem to use USPS the most; the flat-rate boxes are very convenient and delivery seems to generally only take 2 days.

Re: Fed ex

Just wait until one of your packages is lost or damaged, USPS insurance is a joke and just try to get someone on the phone...

Re: Fed ex

Very true, I've attempted to deal with them regarding their insurance and its worthless. If I did high-volume shipping I'd probably use FedEx.

that is how I send all my small stuff also. I have never had a big problem with it. I only had 1 small problem with it when I sent stuff down to a buddy in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles. just took way to long and they could not track it when it hit south America till it got to the island. took almost a month for a flat rate box to get there when they told me no more than a week.

I trust FedEx over UPS and USPS. For smaller, low value stuff such as what Mark suggested the USPS flat rate boxes are awesome. I ship stuff with UPS typically because it's more convenient to find a UPS store than a FedEx one, and UPS is what my work uses. When I order stuff online it seems that it's almost always shipped FedEx, and if given the option FedEx is always cheaper.
