T-bolt clamps vs. spring loaded T-bolt clamps
 

Are the spring loaded ones worth it? supposedly work better with the expanding and contracting of the pipes, just wondering if anyone has tried it?

I just came across it because I am trying to make a better Boost Leak tester.

I've used both, and even got a spring to put on a regular tbolt clamp..no difference. It's more important that there is a bead on the piping/comp cover/ etc, and the clamp is tight. That said, all my clamps right now no longer have springs. If you are having sealing or other issues, try a wiggins or vband clamp.

Or add a couple pieces of threaded rod to the pipes just after the couplers, and put a strip of steel bracket on there so they can't pull apart much.

Weld the bottom parts onto the piping (they are already notched) then screw it on.

Bman I'm riding dirtay again.

I was just wondering i'm not having issues with pipes it just seems like pipes on boosted cars become leaky/loose after a while.

Yeah that's what I was referring too. Sorry kinda hard to explain i guess. That Vibrant one looks kinda fancy and an expensive way of doing it. Could be done cheaper with some basic crap from the hardware store. I almost did that to all of my piping when I was redoing it, just as a precaution.

Soo true, and it didn't help, cuz all the pipes are not on it anymore, they blew off..along with the rest of the car..

You can tell right away it's not mine because under the hood where the passenger fender bolts, it's white on mine because maaco didn't paint there.

That's really the only good way to tell the difference though, my engine bay looks pretty much exactly the same as his other than that... ;) I keed I keed

But really the idea of using those braces, Austin was the one who had the idea awhile back. I thought it was clever, but we never did it.

I did too. I was looking at the piping, then i was like wow, his car is pretty sick now.... then i scrolled down a bit more and saw the hole in the bumper... Shame on you for not saying "THIS IS NOT MY CAR, IM USING THIS AS AN EXAMPLE"

I will be adding straps to my 2 coupler connections. I may need them at 50+psi. As said before, a good bead is the key to getting anything to seal.

ok, here is a description of what i'm talking about:

Designed for clamping of silicone/soft hoses. 100% Stainless Steel construction. A patented Belleville spring mechanism permits the CONSTANT TORQUE clamp to automatically adjust diameter due to compression set or any expansion/contraction of hose due to changes in operational or environmental temperatures. An integral extended liner covers the gears slots of the extra-wide band to prevent hose damage and ensure complete and even sealing pressure.

I have heard a rumor or 2 that Shep is/was running some 55psi, and another guy was up to 51psi, both with a GT4202. I would think a normal Tbolt clamp torqued down would hold the same or more then this spring setup.

from my experience t bolts hold a little better. expecially when you got alot of boost. or a beadless tubing piece. but the spring ones are alot better then hose claps.

Its the spring type clamp vs. reg. t-bolt clamp.
The spring type is supposed to compensate for the constant expanding and contracting that our IC pipes & couplers do, I was thinking that it would help against boost leaks that seem to happen no matter what over time.

I'm just lazy.
