I think I found it.

Well I think I found out what the deal was with my car. I took the timing cover off and put it on TDC and saw that the timing was off. When shane from db put my cam gear on the right way it must have not been on TDC because the timing is off 4 degree ( 4 teeth) on both cams. I need to put it back together and we will see it that were my power loss was from. Now that I now that there is no boost leak so we will see.

4 degrees, meaning 1 tooth? My cams were both off 1 tooth in opposite directions when I did my timing belt and the car didn't feel any different afterward.

4 teeth is plainly obvious and I'd have to imagine the car wouldn't run well like that. I would bet money that it wasn't directly Shane's doing. You said the timing belt tensioner was bad previously, what makes you think that this isn't again related to that? How many teeth off were the cams when you bent the valves before?

I've always heard that anything more than 2 teeth off can cause valve damage, so hopefully that isn't the case with you. If there were bent valves then a leak down test would show that.

Holy crap, was the crank pulley off a full tooth or what? That seems crazy dude. Didn't you say you did a leakdown test? I don't think I remember you actually posting up the numbers and results.

Are you looking at the right marks? The car wouldn't run with it 4 teeth off and the valves would be bent.

Re: I think I found it.

yeah 4 teeth is like an inch off, probably something like 10 degrees. and if your tensioner was bad, and you knew that it was bad, i wouldnt go around blaming shane.

That is compression. What about leak down?

Right, what about leak down numbers?

Are you SURE the crank pully mark is exactly at TDC? Which direction are the cam marks off?

What about leakdown? I say give shane a day or three to troubleshoot it man, he is *extremely* good at getting to the root of problems like this. Then you'll know what the problem is, can get time to get it fixed, and be ready to have some fun this spring/summer :D

I pulled the timing cover off to see the mark on the crankshaft sensing blade was on the timing mark on the oil case. When I put it on TDC the cam gear were advanced buy 3 teeth.

Any chance you got a good camera with a macro lense, take a few pics just to verify? Might help just so there's no question.

Re: I think I found it.

Is there good tension on the belt itself? or is it loose?
If you could line up the crank pulley with the tdc mark and take a pic of the cam gears that would be much more helpful.
