sequence steps to remove 98 eclipse motor needed..

Hey guys I'm helping a buddy remove his 98 eclipse motor because its blown. I would like to know the sequence

I only swap Hondas and Acuras so I'm not sure if this is the same or not.

Is it similar:
remove battery unplug harness from engine bay
remove all parts connecting to the body (radiator,ac,ps etc)
take out axles
hook up motor with hoist
remove motor from motor mounts
pull from top?

Thanks in advance

pulling a motor is the same in almost any car. you have it down in what you posted

but if it is awd you need to take the transfer case off also

And I'm not 100% sure, but I think the axle nuts are 32mm

^^ I edited my post to 32mm. After I posted that, I thought about it, and they are much bigger than 22mm haha

Sounds like you have pretty much everything coverd, its not too crazily hard.

Where in Oakdale are you from? Cool to see other people from Oakdale on here.

after you pull it, throw it in a dumpster. That should complete the sequence. ;)

LOL.

Motors are very similar, but some are removed from under the car, with the cradle and all..not fun.

I saw some friends do that at school on an early 90's grand am 3.1. Biggest pile of shit designing ever.

Yea, toyotas, some hondas, some saturns, and many other vehicles are like this..Makes it easy, as it's just 4 bolts dropping out, besides the other typical things that need to be un-done, but it also means you MUST align the car once done lol

I'm sure some are easy, but there was no way to mount the engine to the cradle on that car. The engine just sat on top of the cradle and we had to lower the car onto it.

Newer (early 00s) Chevy Trucks are a shit pile to pull the motor, have to take off the entire front end including bumper to get any movement out of it. Ive never sworn so much.

That same generation of F150's require you to lift the cab off the frame to pull the motor. haha

Nice I would but he may want to rebuild it. He says he wants to learn so I may be helping him :)
