Interesting story... Mitsubishi gets out of debt and Daimler Chrysler owns the majority of the company. What's next, a 4G63 powered Neon and a 6G72 Stratus? |
just like in the 90's

And I already have a chrysler powered Eclipse, woohoo!!!
Wait, ahh damnit...me and my neon power :headache: |
There are books written about the merger between Chryslem and Benz. Benz took over management and alot of the tech stuff. Chrysler cars have become much nicer since. Maybe a little Benz influence of Mitsu could yeild a fire breathing turbo, awd, plush leather and wood that lasts? Might the Turbo Lebaron return as a rebadged EVO? But with Kompressor badged on the side? Will the Galant loose those horrible headlights? Tune in next week.

Ironic. I'd say Mitsu's fall would be due to Chrysler, pre-benz era. The trannies, the moldings, everything else but the motor. I test drove the Stratus R/T, Sebring LXi, and Eclipse GTS, and the GTS sold me because of the better HP rating and quick (relative term) acceleration. In my opinion Chrysler ruined Mitsu in the US, and it's just ironic that they're shackin up in the sack... :goodluck:

they have IDENTICAL engines/tranies
the only difference is about 70 to 120 pounds in the chassy and few extra details on the sebring/stratus that eclipses don't have and eclipses had the spyder unlike Stratus. The Coupe is the only thing of the stratus or sebring i'm talking about. the 4 door versions had 2.7 chrysler engines, not mitsu. -E |
Don't blame everything on Chrysler. Mitsu has never been able to build a good transmission...they really should out-source to Honda or something. Other Mitsu cars, like late-90's Gaylants are just huge pieces of shit too. I think they were the best looking sedans in their market, but they were just cheaply built and fell apart.

The Eclipse GTS has a different intake plenum, different camshafts, 6 disc, 7 speaker 200 Watt stereo, and 10 more horsepower than the Eclipse GT, and 20 more than the Stratus R/T. The Eclipse GTS also has a Timing and Lift Controller called MIVEC (Mitsubishi's Innovative Variable Timing and Lift Electronic Control.) It's VTEC. It also comes in the GS SOHC 4G64. Not exactly identical. Don't know about you guys with your cars, but with intake and a clutch, I ran 15.0@94. Not bad for a 3700 lb N/A pile of japo-american crap. :bounce:
It's like a 3S, without all the cool stuff. Correct me if I'm wrong on these numbers: 2003 Stratus R/T - 190hp 2004 Stratus R/T - 200hp Chrysler Sebring LXi - 190 hp Eclipse GT and Spyder GT - 200 Eclipse GTS and GTS Spyder -210 |

The Chevrolet Malibu max and Saturn Vue Redline come with the 3.5 VTEC V6 Saab 9/3 Station wagon is a Subaru Impreza, the rest of the Saab 9/3 turbos are the Chevrolet 2.2 Ecotec Turbo No one builds an all around great car unless it's hand made, they ACTUALLY think things out and it's not mass production, or costs way too much. |
the reason they are in the trouble they are in is because when sales sucked in the 3rd gen model they loosened the credit policys and let everyone and their mother get financed and half the owners defaulted on the loans and mitsu was like "oh shit" the dsmers were like "ha ha " i was like "really" this girl i knew was like "yeah..... ok" and my friend brothers ex girlfriends grandma was like "oh dear"........
