ok so i got the new turbo on. now comes troubleshooting.
heres my mods: fp big 28 hks SSQV bov ngk plugs intake boost guage.- elite mbc and thats about it. the t25 seems to boost higher and have more uumph when the turbo spools. there is no check engine light, the engine seems to be running fine, no ticks pings or thuwumps, no smoking out the exhaust. it just seems like i have less power now that i did the turbo.can anyone guess what might be the problem here? on the up side, the screaming from the bov is gone on spoolup. |
First thing is first: Check for boost leaks.
|
Tom what do you have the boost set to? If you have it set to high you could be running lean causing your car to knock and pull timing like crazy. Try just setting boost to stock setting and see how it feels. If everything is ok and there is no boost leaks it should have way more power than the T too slow because the air flow is going to be way more efficient even at low boost.
And yeah I second Matt also, anytime you do anything like that do a boost leak test before anything else. CRAIG :goodluck: |
how loose is your bov set?
|
get IC piping, exhaust, and the rest fo the supporting mods.
|
Probly just feels slower as the car is not as torqey (sp) without the old snail. I have heard the same complaint from a person who now has a 14b on. It is just more laggy and power delivery is more gradual instead of the instant spool of the T2small. What boost are you set at? You do not want to go too high without any supporting mods (fuel and exhaust). Screw the ic pipes ;)

i started out almost all the way out and continued to turn it up but it wont go past 10 psi, it levels off, which makes me think that there is a major boost leak.
|
yep, there must be a leak.

No, I was being sarcastic. He said he thinke there is a leak. I was just confirming it for him.
|
if its not a leak you may see me kicking a big brick wall somewhere. just turn and walk away because if you see me at that point i may want to kick something softer.
|
I think it is the nut behind the wheel. Change that and your problems will be over.
|
hehe, i had the same complaint Tom. The kick of the small turbo was gone.. but wait until you get it tuned and then when you feel the kick at 3500 rpm you will shit your pants...
I just disconected my boost controller and went over to elite and got it tuned when i put it on, then on the way home i had a biggest shitt grin smile in my life when i boosted to 17 psi on this turbo... -E |
my car cant go on the dyno unless it is at propulshun, AUTO gets owned once again.
and what do oyu mean you disconnected the boost controller??? |
i put it back to stock so that ecu takes care of it all.... safest thing you could do.
until i got to Elite and then i put it back on the dyno and tuned it then.. -E |
get a fuel pump and an exhaust........and everything else!!
|
Tom, I would be willing to help check for boost leaks and let you use my 2g logger so we can take a look at your timing and 02s among other things.
But yeah with stock exhaust, injectors and no way to adjust the air flow signal you can't do too much but only 10PSI means you have a problem. The good thing is it is more than likely easy to fix. |
did you forget to plug any of the vacum/boost lines back in?
Remembered to plug the small one on the compressor housing? I'd let you use my boost leak tester but CVD has it right now, and they are super easy to make anyways. |
ok it looks like im gonna be kicking a brick wall, No boost leaks, all i had to du was turn the bitch up some more. my bad. but now im boostin at 17 psi all the way to red line. and shes got some powa now. WOOO HOOOOOOOO. im boost addicted.
|
uhh.. 17psi is alot for stock everything.. Turn it back down to 14-15 max before you blow it up.
