Another head scratcher, fuel in gauge filter

So I have a prosport boost gauge, it has an electric sensor and a little inline filter. The original one actually split in half and my gauge stopped working last week. I think I might now know why. To replace it, I installed a little clear plastic fuel filter from O'reilly, and this morning I noticed that it was half full of gasoline!

I am tapping the vacuum line that goes to the fuel pressure solenoid from the intake manifold for the boost gauge. Is there some obvious reason I shouldn't be getting my boost source from there? I have no idea why so much fuel is getting into the filter. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that the filter sits horizontally. I'm thinking about securing it vertically so at least it doesn't stay full of gasoline and it drains out on its own.

The fuel pressure solenoid, as far as I understand it, can just limit the amount of vacuum that the FPR sees, in order to raise fuel pressure for certain startup situations, right?

Thanks for the help. Sorry about the book.

Your FPR might be bad, if it's fuel and not just condensation.

its definitely fuel. I just drained the filter, drove the car 2 minutes and it was half full again, i sniffed it and it smells strongly of gas. Doubt condensation could accumulate that quickly.

are you suggesting that my FPR is bleeding gas into the vacuum line connected to it? My fuel pressure seems to be fine...

btw, corn juice... disgusting.

You have issues if you are getting fuel into your vacuum lines. I don't know what else to tell you so you understand this shouldn't happen and something is wrong with your car. Shane pointed out the FPR, you need to look there first as it's the only thing on the car that is connected to both fuel and the vacuum system.

Thanks for the scolding. I clearly thought this was perfectly fine, which is why I posted about it. :)

i'll be switching out the FPR for another one tonight or tomorrow, see what that does for me.

if its not the FPR, what else could this be? blowby? Crankcase pressure? Last I checked the car makes good compression. And the shit is like pure gasoline, its not dark colored and doesn't appear to be mixed with oil or anything...

it was the FPR. took off the vac line and revved the engine, spewed fuel. Switched it out, good to go :) thx ecoli
