Good deals on hotels?

The girlfriend and I were thinkin about gettin away and relaxing for a weekend or so as our Christmas present to each other. We don't really care where we go, because nice restaurants and stuff can be found just about anywhere.

My question is how do you find those really good hotel deals? If a hotel doesn't rent out a room they obviously don't make money, and since we don't really care when we go, I'm wondering if there is anyplace people know of to find last minute crazy deals or something on nice hotels.

Any advice would be great thanks! :romp_69l::sex022:

There is no magical site with super cheap rates. Expedia, Travelocity, hotels.com, yahoo, etc will all be comparable, just do some research.

If you're looking to fly somewhere then just Google 'last minute trips' and see what comes up. I once did a 5 day vacation that way...ended up getting a flight to Amsterdam for $350 (normally $800+). You usually end up going somewhere out of favor, such as going to Europe in the winter! If it is somewhere you've never been then it can still be a great time.

Hotels and airfare are insanely high in the vicinity of Xmas & New Years. If you wait until after New Years then I bet you could find a great deal.

I generally find the best price I can on Expedia then go directly to the hotel's website and can usually save a few extra bucks (I do the same with airfare).

You could always go to Idaho and take tours of Potato fields. :)

Hobbit Travel generally has some pretty good package deals that include airfare and a hotel/cruise ship accomodations.

Last minute cruises were always the best deals when I was looking around.

For sure, last minute cruises can be had for CHEAP if you really watch for them. I've seen as low as $300/person including airfare.

LOL @ hobbit.

A cruise during this time of year in the Carribean would be amazing!

Peter wins thread.

+1 on cheap cruises over Christmas or in January. Might be tough to take that time off though since you're in school.

Re: Good deals on hotels?

Thanks for the responses guys. I've looked a lot at most of the websites listed and I've found some decent deals. My only problem with those is that they show the constant rates for each hotel. Am I wrong in thinking that hotels will drastically lower their prices more than the list price for rooms just to try and get them filled?

Maybe last minute, like the day of or before. I doubt they would more than a week in advance. If they are empty you could probably work out a deal on the spot, I've done that before.
