Evo 8 transmission problem(maybe slave cylinder)
So today I was driving to work and I was just cruising about 45mph in 5th gear and I had to downshift to take an exit. I pushed in my clutch and tried to switch into 2nd gear and I couldnt put it into gear. I had to rev match the mph to switch gears. When Im at a stop and in first gear with the clutch peddle all the way in, I can rev and it moves a little. I still have fluid and the peddle feels normal. I think it might be the slave or master cylinder, I have the competition stage 4 clutch. What do you guys think?

Re: Evo 8 transmission problem(maybe slave cylinder)
Sounds to me like your slave cylinder might have taken a dump. Squeeze the boot that goes around the rod to make sure there's no fluid in it.

Re: Evo 8 transmission problem(maybe slave cylinder)
UPdate, Slave cylinder works fine. Pretty sure the TOB popped off the PP. Makes a shit ton of noise when the car is in gear and pushing in the clutch peddle doesnt do anything but the the slave cylinder still pushes the fork. I probably wont want to fix it till spring time. I'm done with evo clutch swaps for a while, PITA

Re: Evo 8 transmission problem(maybe slave cylinder)
I was going to get that from rosey, I was just waiting till my check this week to call him back on it. It only had 3k on the clutch and it happened when I was driving very slowly

Re: Evo 8 transmission problem(maybe slave cylinder)
My TOB broke with about 1,700 miles on it, 500 miles of which was break-in and 1,000 miles was just driving to Texas. Good work on making yours last twice as long :D

I remember you got yours warrantied, didnt you? I bought mine after comp supposedly fixed the TOB release problem. I waited 2 weeks with the clutch being on backorder untill they had the new kit out. I loved how the clutch felt, but this really pisses me off since these evo clutches are not as easy to replace as a awd dsm. |
Re: Evo 8 transmission problem(maybe slave cylinder)
I was a prototype tester so I got mine covered, but from what I head they're doing their best to take care of customers so give them a call and explain your situation and see what they're willing to do for you.
