mn seat belt law + bull
ok i was on my way home riding passenger on hwy36 we seen 16 cops and hwy patrols between english and 120 witch was unusual and were like ok. so then all the sudden theres a high way patrol on the right side of us. then pulls a head then pulls back and pulls us over. And asks me why i wasn't wherein my seat belt, im like i forgot to put it on i had it on everywhere else. And the time i forget I get nailed. Im already on probation for a fel flee and still have to pay that + a fine i had prior in Ramsey for $400 + no job or license my point how are you suppose to get back on you feet when you are flat on your face broke .. borrow money from what who and no credit
I believe that wherein your seat belt is your choice it shouldn't be regulated by our government its just another way to make money off of the starved economy its bad enough we pay even when we cant we still have to pay there little fees. Its our responsibility not the governments not wherein is may sound mean but its population control just in another way like our prisons kill people that have done wrong and some are just exucuted even while innocent. im sure it wont be long before we are all bar-coded and chiped and have a paperless society because of our global climate scam thats scaring us in to a new world order and then we have no control over anything cause people simply dont care about there freedom . I just dont understand this world " we the people " yeah right ... no longer applys . :rude::signs066: sorry for grammar no child left behind failed . |
Re: mn seat belt law + bull
just wear a belt dude. Its in everyone's best interest. No one wants to peel you off the road. I'm sure your mother agrees.

Re: mn seat belt law + bull
I always wear my seat-belt and doesn't take long to put it on :-P Just be more careful follow the laws and eventually you will get back on your feet.

Re: mn seat belt law + bull
Don't be stupid, wear your seat belt, and wear it all the time. If you forgot then you could have easily forgot it the rest of the day ;) It's the law, get over it.

Re: mn seat belt law + bull
Prevent accidents? No. Death/injury? Yes. It's simple physics, slow down as the car crushes, or slow down faster after the car crushes. Slowing down fast hurts.
As has been said by others. Speed has never killed. Suddenly becoming stationary on the other hand... As far as the ticket goes, well, though luck man. Not everything in life happens with "good" timing. I do think the seat belt law is kind of dumb though (along with TONS of others). If you chose to die, who am I to stop you? I'm a firm believer in Darwin-ism. |
Re: mn seat belt law + bull
It sucks
I know someone who went to court and pled guilty to have half of it taken off. Better than paying the entire fee. |

Shitty luck man, life's not always fair. But for the time being since you are flat broke, maybe it's in your best interest to simply follow the rules to avoid these situations.

Re: mn seat belt law + bull
Front seat, wear the belt dude.
While I don't agree with such laws (as primary offenses), back seat belt tickets are more of a croc of shit now. Just another reason to pull people over and give them DUIs. |
Re: mn seat belt law + bull
Seatbelts are good, they do nothing but protect the occupants and save us all money (state, insurance, etc.). They don't PREVENT accidents though as you have listed in the poll, they just keep you safer in one.

Re: mn seat belt law + bull
heres an idea: buy my laser and never worry about a seat belt ticket again!! (automatic shoulder belts)

Re: mn seat belt law + bull
While I think wearing your seltbelt is always a good plan... Having the law enforcing it on adults is lame. Were big kids now we should be able to make decisions for ourselves and not have big brother telling us what to do for every little thing.

Re: mn seat belt law + bull
I'd much rather have the other occupants of the vehicle I'm driving wear their seat belts, lap belt and all. Better they stay in the same position of sitting than be flying all around the interior of the car injuring everyone else and possibly through the window(s) hurting someone else outside of the vehicle.
Yes, it sucks that you got a ticket. Totally agree. But if a seat belt helps save money, lives, and insurance costs, just wear it. And hell, with the 1Gs you're halfway there since the car does it for you! |
Re: mn seat belt law + bull
just wear the belt and dont bitch about it. It is the law.
I could get the wife on here and have story time about people that did not wear there belts (works for plymouth pd) or I could get storys from Ali's dad and all the people he has scraped up with a shovel and in to a hefty bag off the street's (retired fire chief for mlps) But if you dont like your life then dont wear it and stay the hell off the roads then. I hate to be late to work |

So, at what point do you realize that your not wearing your belt and you have already seen 16 squads? No thought in your head says maybe I should put it on to avoid being pulled over and ticketed? You have a fel flee... maybe try and follow the rules. You still haven't figured it out after that? And the government is trying to watch out for the insurance companies. And after years of research they have some how figured out that seat belts are a good thing in vehicles and help prevent deaths. Find another shoulder to cry on, your the one who screwed up. Man up. |
Re: mn seat belt law + bull
Go take a long look in the mirror. Sounds like you brought all these problems and fines upon yourself.

Re: mn seat belt law + bull
Two of my best friends were in front of me on the way to another bar one night, I had to turn around and pick up another friend. When I came back I saw a ton of flashing lights and the road was closed, had to find a different route. Two days later I got a call from my friend in that car ahead of us, turned out they were hit head on by a drunk driver, both of them had crushed legs, pelvis, arms, shoulders and a ton of cuts and bruises, both almost died. They would have been much better off had they worn their seatbelts and they both wear them religiously to this day, I've worn mine ever since as well.
One more story. My best friend at the time pulled out of a parking lot on a snowy day, his wife was wearing her seatbelt, he wasn't. He slid too far and got hit by a semi head on. He was killed instantly, his wife right beside him barely got a scratch. His seatbelt probably wouldn't have helped him much in this case, but wouldn't you rather play it safe? |
Re: mn seat belt law + bull
Wear a seatbelt. Its a good thing to have.

Re: mn seat belt law + bull
As a Firefighter/EMT I've seen a few pretty nasty wrecks. I've personaly seen the effects of seat belt vs. non-seat belt. Even in small bumper rub collisions, having a belt on can make the difference in having a bad day and having months/years of recovery. It doesnt take anymore time to put it on and if its adjusted properly you dont even know its there. And it may save your life.

Re: mn seat belt law + bull
I didn't read anyone elses post, but the DAMN CAR HAS AUTO SEAT BELTS!!
It was a good thing when I was younger cause I never wore seat belts. SOunds like you have a lot of things going on, get rid of the DSM and sort out your life. Kracka's post says pretty much everything else. |
