Bullseye V-trim oil feed?
Where is the proper location to put the oil feed line?
I am getting mix answers, from the head or from the oil filter housing? Right now I am running from the oil filter housing but if this is too much pressure, is there a way of reducing the pressure? Also anythoughts on this turbo? I am not too fimilar with it but it is on my car. I am hoping for good results. |
Re: Bullseye V-trim oil feed?
a restrictor is a way to reduce the pressure, but the best way would be to measure it right before the turbo.
Assuming this is a JB turbo I would say a OFH with BS would be fine without BS might be a bit high. |

Re: Bullseye V-trim oil feed?
The Balance Shafts are removed and the oil pressure is higher then stock.
This isn't a BB turbo however after doing more research it appears that this jb turbo doesn't like the High oil pressure off of the oil filter housing. SO...i have a problem then of too much oil pressure going to the turbo How do I measure the pressure going to the turbo? How much pressure do I want going to the turbo? What is the best restrictor to use to lower the pressure? (the oil feed from the head is already blocked...) Is there a home depot solution for this? BTW info for this V-trim, it looks like a picky turbo and likes to surge so I will post up on how this performs |
Re: Bullseye V-trim oil feed?
Find a Tee to put a gauge, from what I have read (I was trying to find this again to double check, maybe someone on here knows) but oil psi is dependent on RPMs not load, so you can get a T and a gauge and have someone rev your car while you watch oil psi. I would say no less than 10psi at idle and no more than 70-80, but best bet would be to call SB/Bullseye tomorrow and ask them about the specs.

Re: Bullseye V-trim oil feed?
contact garrett, they will be able to give you the specs on how much of a restrictor you need.

Re: Bullseye V-trim oil feed?
I was running this turbo for a while and it surged in lower boost but smoothed out as boost built. I was running a 25psi spike settling to 21.
I also talked to the head turbo guy at bullseye and he told me to not run a restrictor with my v-trim but I still have my balance shaft so it might be a good idea to just call them and see what they say |
Re: Bullseye V-trim oil feed?
Bullseye doesn't make their center section...so call garrett.

Re: Bullseye V-trim oil feed?
run it off of the head without a restrictor. Thats what I do except I do have a restrictor because of mine being BB.

Re: Bullseye V-trim oil feed?
I may have a problem running the oil feed off of the head right now because it was blocked off a while ago (kicking my self right now). And it may be a permanent block off till I get my rebuilt cylinder head on there (which may be a while)
I called bullseye and he mentioned that the restriction is really just a band aid and he didn't recommend using one. He mentioned to just check the pressure and it should be somewhere between 60-80 psi if higher use a restriction. Does 60-80 psi sound right for an oil pressure? How about with BS removed? I really don't know what these cars run and all I have used is that dummy gauge? I found a compressor map for this and I will post it later with an analysis. |

Do u at least have a oil psi gauge for the motor?

Re: Bullseye V-trim oil feed?
I think I have a gauge sitting around here that I could hook up to the engine. I don't know the accuracy of an auto meter but we can hook it up to see whats going on.
Should I hook this to the engine first or should I make a T fitting by the turbo to see what the pressure is? Or should I just buy another separate gauge? |
