Okay, Josh and I have been working on swaping engines in Ricky's car. Enes took some pictures of the damage in the old motor, and I wil let them do the talking. There was obviously more damage that isn't really displayed like the valve to piston impact etc, but the ones that are up should give a pretty good idea of how bad this thing was.

Add that bent broken rod to my collection of melted bearings and it would be a site to behold!

Either way, all I can say is ouch... Hope it all comes together again soon!

He snapped a rod? How much power is he pushing?

Not much power. The rod snapped due to oil starvation. The oil was blowing out of the turbo feed line. It happened going down the highway at normal speeds on their way home one night. The car is a 99 with only 40K on it. The feed line was completely loose in the middle.

Yup, it would of probably gone a bit longer if it was synthetic oil, but still would of not saved the engine...

Yeah, if the oil loss was noticed right away, things might have been saved.
From looking at the damage it looked like the rod bearing spun, made harsh metal to metal contact with the crank, then it looked like the rod/piston combo actually held on for a while, probably rod knocking away. Finally I think the rod just gave under all the stress (and massive discoloration around the twist) and it spun in the cylinder. This caused the piston to spin 30 degrees or so and grab the valves, thus locking the motor (as well as the rod cap wedging between the crank and the block!).
All in all, WOW!, tons of damage, but it could of been worse. (like rod going through block).

Shit, if there was Duralube in there, it probably would've went another 10K miles. :cheers:
