its alive again !
3 Attachment(s)
i picked up a 91 talon a few weeks back and its been a fun ride until things go boom i bought it running with spun rod bearings the head was still good so i picked up another engine another 7 bolt and it was ok ran find until i found out the o2 was bad and apparently ran it so lean it exploded a rod thru the oil pan all the exhaust valves are white .. so i got another engine a 6 bolt short block from grease monkey . I did the balance shaft delete.
so far had bought a gates racing Kevlar timing belt ,aem wide band, hallman es boost controller, dsmlink, meagan 3 in downpipe , fp evo 3 ,arp head studs ,boost Gauge ,oil pressure gauge, wallbro lph 255 things yet to buy are injectors 650-1000 cc fmic adjustable fuel pressure regulator cams so this last week has been a real pain in the ass been thu 2 engines both were 7 bolts. learned my lesson about those . 6 bolts are where its at got it running today at 4:40 pm it had a heart beat ... now its all tuning witch i am new to so i think ill wait and have it done some where and watch them do it ... unless some one want to help me out and have some fun ... |

Go to Shane at DB, it is $ very well spent!

Re: its alive again !
I guess I dont get why you would have a 7 bolt in a 91 talon in the first place...

Re: its alive again !
please excuse the grammar and punctuation
wow all i can say ... i just got done taking it for a test run running dsmlink figering out how to tune the thing well i got it some what figured out on how the fuel trim works - adds fuel + less watching my wide band closely im getting 11.8 at wot id like to see 12.4 to be on the safe side did a few pulls and they were strong hitting like 17psi boost ! i hope that's good wondering if 20 is possible with 450s im running it in open loop got it to idle ok got good vac cum about 18.5 19 at idle i think it need a coolent temp sensor i cant get it to read ... ill do more tuning tomorrow as far at db goes ill be going there as soon as i can to get it done right .. |
Re: its alive again !
you want an 11.0:0 af ratio not a 12.4. a 12.4 is very lean for a dsm
|
Re: its alive again !
Are you running E85 or pump gas? If pump you want 11.0 like 4seasons said. If E85 12.4 will be fine. Make sure you watch your IDC (injector duty cycle) With a 16g at 17psi your 450's are probly maxed out. What does your timing look like?

tuning it now
my timing peaks out at 36 degrees im going to keep timming down i think 34 is all most too much im not running e85 yet running 93 octane btw i thought on the scale for lean and rich 20.0 as in being ritch at hell and 10.0 lean as hell is that right ... ? on dsm link it says im getting a 11.5 -13:4

Re: its alive again !
found out i have a bad ground on my wide band its not reading constant it only reads when i rev so i will get that straighten out tomorrow allso going to get a new temp sensor cause it reads -40 in dsmlink the code is circuit malfunction i dont get that cause it reads on the dash ? allso i am NOT running a front o2 because i want to tune it at every rpm + the one i have is bad reads 0.00 id like to tap in to my wide band o2 some how but i haven't found anything about doing that so what i was going to do it use one of the imputs to the ecu the temp pin 15 egr one to plug my wide band in to that one the the v5 out put on wide band and tune from that .
