Hawver Intake Manifold
I've been looking at these on DSM Tuners, DSM Talk, etc. I was wondering if anybody around here was running one or knows someone who is, and if so what kind of numbers they have seen. Just looking for some local feedback here on this nice looking piece that is all.

Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
That is one ugly manifold lol. That'd pretty much the only opinion I have.

Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
I like cast pieces, because they are usually robust.
Having said that, that is indeed one ugly intake manifold. If the fins and name were machined off and the body polished it might look decent. |
Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
I have been wondering about these as well... They aren't bling or eye catching by any means. However, they appear to be a better replacement cast intake mani than the stock version IMHO.
Nothing wrong with a cast manifold, very strong. Shit, shave the Hawver shit shaved off and polish it and it will look like a Magnus. |
Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
Someone had on at the cookout. It looked alot better in person then online. But you shouldnt be buying an intake by looks anyway. These look like a very nice intake IMO The plenum could be Bigger But id should be comparible to a Magnus or JMfab.

Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
lol.
I wanted to go cast when i was looking at IM, but with the warranty's of all the SMIM ones i figured go with them. I used to have some comparisons of where this was a really decent mani for being cast, but i think it was always topped by the others probably a lot more so since the others have redesigned theirs. |
Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
I like the looks of the manifold. Reminds me of a FP cast exhaust mani.

Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
It kind of reminds me of an offenhauser manifold.

Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
I think they're sweet! Definitely the one I would get far over anything else. They're supposed to have decent gains without killing the low end, but I'd definitely like to see more than the 1 or 2 dyno sheets available.

Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
I don't think it looks bad. The lettering and lines has an old school muscle car look to it.

Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
cast mani's rock. I have one on the evo III

Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
I like em, and sometimes wish I would have gone with one of those over my JMF.

Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
I definately like the warranty on these things:
"Warranty? Hawver manifolds carry a lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. This includes structural failure for any reason that might apply to it's intended use as an intake manifold. This also covers breach due to N2O or methanol backfires. Defective parts will be repaired or replaced at our discretion. To file a claim or for further information please contact us at info@hawvermotorsports.com" I don't think the Magnus, JMF, or others cover this do they? Plus it seems the people that run these seem to gain bottom end rather than lose it, while still seeing nice gains up top. It may be ugly, but nothing a little bit of powdercoating couldn't take care of. |

and your exhaust manifold was a tube header of some sort. |
Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
The intake is a hks copy. It is a 2 piece cast inktake. They did it that way so it could have the v stacks on the runners.
The exhaust manifold is s.s. cast weld l's. It was the first on that was on johns (pushit2.0) drag galant vr4 |
Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
I did a little research and discovered that the dynograph they have on their website http://www.hawvermotorsports.com/dyno_results.html came from a member on DSMtalk.com (reference thread: http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showth...=199371&page=4 ) . at the time of the dyno he was running: "16g, pump gas, w/ meth and a modded sidemount"
Might not be a bad option for those of us who prefer smaller turbo setups. |
Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
Stronger but also heavier than a SMIM.
|
Re: Hawver Intake Manifold
I think I would be willing to sacrifice 5-10lbs just for the durability.
