coolant boiling/overflowing help.
im hoping someone can figure this out. Everynow and then after driving for a little while i will get home and my coolant will be spurting out of the overflow container and be boiling too. i have replaced both the sensors, water pump is flowing fine(the weep hole looked ok, and i saw it flowing with the cap off) i just replaced the thermostat with a 170degree one and also the radiatior cap, i just put in an aluminum with two slim fans. I cannot figure this out, i thought i had it controlled for a while but then it just came out of nowhere again. I have never had a problem at night my dsmlink has showen the highest i have ran was like 150degrees at night.

Re: coolant boiling/overflowing help.
Does it mainly happen after boosting it? If so I would look towards your headgasket.

Re: coolant boiling/overflowing help.
ya i would suppose it would because i boost while i drive. i Haven't really noticed oil in the coolant or vise-versa though. You think a headgasket could cause that?

Re: coolant boiling/overflowing help.
For sure, my car is doint the same thing right now, no oil in the coolant, no coolant in the oil, isn't running too hot, but still pushes coolant after boost. I'll be going to a Permatorque and L19's this winter while the car is down.

Re: coolant boiling/overflowing help.
Sounds like you're pushing coolant.

Re: coolant boiling/overflowing help.
would a headgasket cause that?

Re: coolant boiling/overflowing help.
well i took out the p.o.s. cxracing aluminum radiator and one slim fan and put the stock radiator and one stock fan back in and everything seems to be fine.....for now. I got the temp up to 183 with no fans then kicked them on and the temp dropped down to 115 within like a minute. my temp gauge on the dash doesnt work for some reason.(thankgod for the dsm link) but drove it around for a while, and got no overflowing or anything. and i found an exhaust manifold gasket leaking as well as my throttle body. Im thinking these may have added to some uneccesary heat, and issues.

Re: coolant boiling/overflowing help.
Just a quick question. Did you or anyone for that matter who has similar issues of pushing coolant as is stated in the above posts, have a loss in power?
|
Re: coolant boiling/overflowing help.
maybe a little but not much. i mean i had a couple other under laying issues that i found out that probably caused it.

Re: coolant boiling/overflowing help.
I only asked because, it is pretty similar to my situation (well mine was worst). On the morning I was going to go to RF's, I felt and hear a strong vibration coming from the motor. Literally, it could be hear and felt with both legs. I looked over at my aftermarket water temp guage and it was pegged HOT HOT. I limped it home, 2 minutes away. Coolant was boiling / spewing hot liquid from the over flow canister, couldn't touch anything. I let everything cool down, refilled, and attempted to get going again. Nope, it wasn't going to happen.
