2500 rpm knock//clack, starion
 

So this is for the starquest gurus on here, this same question is on SQC too but I need fast help.

The first diagnosis was a loose balance shaft chain, as it had in fact loosened up and chewed up the guides, replaced the whole lot, inlcuding timing chain, and balance shaft chain, and all guides, and sprockets, and tensioners.

we still have the 2500 rpm knock, i also checked out the main bearings but not rod bearings, I didnt assume it would be rod knock, but could it be? it sounds more like trying to stab a front case with a screwdriver than a knock.

even when it is only audible above 2500 rpms? I always thought rod knock was a constant thing, like when my talon had it, and the taurus I have now has it. Those are consistent, and go with engine rpm, this is neither.

It depends, last G54b that spun a bearing on me wasn't audible till 3000rpm,
