Phu(k Land

Well, I've been in the market for a boat, and my girlfriend found what she felt were some pretty good deals. Here is what she found that we should maybe go check out:

http://www.fundealer.com/searchengin...1&diid=1938427

I honestly did not like how it looked online in the pictures, but since I was at her cabin this weekend, and this dealership was only 45min away, we decided to check it out, because maybe we'd be suprised.

Well turns out we were surprised, and loved it. We'd been looking at a LOT of boats lately, and a lot of them were more expensive brands like Sea Ray, Crownline, Glastron, Cobalt, etc. They also had a pretty hefty price tag associated with them, but man were they nice.

So here, she found a bunch of Bayliners. My impression has always been that Bayliner made a decent boat, but they didn't quite have the fit and finish of some of the higher brands like mentioned above. Well we got there, and yes as I expected, you could tell a difference between this and the nice Crownlines we had looked at. But in the end, the difference was OK.

Small things like the small walkway from the rear swim platform to the rear interior of the boat. On the Crownline the cushion was on a hinge that flipped up so you could walk by, while on the Bayliner the cushion just removes, then you put it back (see in attached pic). Small things like that, which in the end were fine. It has everything we wanted, the interior room we were looking for, and of course most importantly the price tag we were looking for.

The story on this boat is that there was a company around the Ottertail Lake area that was going out of business. This McLaughlin's dealer offered them some real low ball offer on all of their boat inventory, and they accepted because they needed money to pay the bank. So this McLaughlin's ended up with 200 brand new Bayliner's. Once all the legal BS was done with, they were finally able to start selling them. Well they are down to only a handful left. So what we're ending up with is actually a BRAND NEW, NEVER TITLED, NEVER BEEN IN THE WATER, 2006 19ft Bayliner 195, w/ trailer, for $15,700 (we talked them down a grand). All the other boats we're looking at for this size, brand new, are closer to 25K - 30k. And we were really looking to spend a little less, and looking for a few years old used one. Well this one perfectly fit the bill.

Anyhow, I'm pretty pumped, and figured I'd share our excitement! We may just leave it up at her cabin for the rest of the year, but I'd like to get it out on the St. Croix a few times next year. I'm learning to wakeboard more and more. Actually figured out how to get some air this weekend and land. My g/f is pretty damn good at slalom skiing. And tubing is always a blast. Should provide us with some good entertainment!!

I may be jumping the gun as it isn't fully ours yet. But we put $500 down on Friday, and Katy is going to their Fargo location tomorrow to write the check. So it's basically ours. :D

Oh, and it will be getting mods :) First mod is we will need to get some sort of Depth Finder as it didn't come with one which was a bummer. Next will probably be to upgrade the stereo system a little bit as right now it consists of only 2 speakers. I've never dealt with Marine Audio, but will be something fun to look into and do. Last mods are to possibly add a wakeboard tower, and possibly an extension of the current swim platform.

Attached are some crappy cell phone pics. I'll put up some nice ones maybe next weekend when we can get some with the good camera.

GREAT news! That boat rocks, and they are nice. 2 of my ex's had bayliners, and the fit and finish is actually nicer/better then you'd think. Great price too! Hope to see it out on the water soon!

Re: Phu(k Land

Well, funny update...

I'm heading up to the Marine Max in Rogers, to purchase a 2nd boat today as well. haha. 16' 2008 basic fishing/utility boat, brand new, for an insane deal. We'll be using it as either a trade in, or just turn around and sell it.

So if anyone is looking for something like that, or knows of someone who is, let me know. We will be selling it for dirt cheap.

Here is the one we are getting:

http://marinemax.com/Page.aspx/diid/...arfish-20.aspx

If everything goes as planned, we'll be looking to sell it for around $4000. Brand new, w/ trailer.

Nice boat (Bayliner)!

Halon 07-28-2009 08:27 PM

Re: Phu(k Land

Ha, well as of now, we have put money down on both boats. The Bayliner will be paid in full tomorrow, and the fishing boat on Thursday. All of a sudden I have two fuggin boats...

The fishing one will be up for sale shortly though.

Re: Phu(k Land

So why exactly are you buying a boat you don't want? Hoping to flip it for a profit?

A//// Guy 07-28-2009 09:04 PM

Re: Phu(k Land

Haha thats funny. Im not sure its worth dealing with the second boat, but you might be able to flip it for a little cash. Does it come with the 15hp motor?

Halon 07-28-2009 09:24 PM

Re: Phu(k Land

The plan is to use it as a trade in, unless it's too late. If it's too late, then yes we will flip it.

If you understood the situation, I'm 110% sure you both would do the exact same thing.

And yes Peter, it is the boat, motor, and trailer. MSRP for the fishing boat is about $8k. Let's just say we are getting it for SIGNIFICANTLY less than that.

And no way to get them from place to place. I guess you could always put a hitch on your Talon. You just got a new clutch.:waterski:
