Turbo rebuilding

I have a precision sc61 turbocharger that needs a rebuild. It was in a car that spun a rod bearing and was driven for a week after it spun the bearing. I have the center section off and I want to bring it in for a rebuild. First I would like to know if anyone could give me an estimate on a rebuild, it might need a new compressor wheel cause its chipped up a bit. What are some good places for bringing a turbo to be rebuilt.

Pm jhaan_dude, he seems to know what's up when it comes to rebuilding costs.

Diesel Components seems to be a place alot of locals have gone. There's also a diesel place in Blaine just off Central that rebuilds turbos, but I'm not sure what it's called.

Just go right to where the work is done which is Diesel Components. I would say buy a new center section with both new wheels.

Well julian rebuilds them, and has them brought to diesel components for balancing. Could save some money, and have your turbo warrentied by going through Julian.

I have the same turbo and I spun a rod bearing as well, not wheel damage though. Anyways I sent it back to Precision for a rebuild and balance, they are charging me $360....Holy F*ck! So I'd prolly find somewhere else to send it.

Quality is key so send it right to Precision! Why save money to have warranty and the hassle of yanking the turbo back out when it fails again? Mike send it to PTE

I will probably just end up buying a brand new center section. Not taking a chance with anyone on here that doesnt have any real training rebuilding a turbo.

Re: Turbo rebuilding

Get a BB center section, Precisions BB sections seem to be much better then their journal by what I have seen.
