Updated 7-bolt?
So here I was, happy as sh*t that i'm pulling a 2G AWD 5-speed trans out of this DSM, and I find this:
http://imgur.com/Jnbpl.jpg What the hell? this was out of a low mileage 95! Can someone explain why there is a thrust washer in a 7-bolt? To be perfectly honest, this is the first time that I actually spent any time looking at a 7-bolt, normally I avert my eyes. |
Re: Updated 7-bolt?
Do you mean thrust bearing? Or what exactly are you talking about? Every engine has a thrust bearing.

Re: Updated 7-bolt?
There are two versions of the thrust bearing design. On 6 bolts/early 7 bolts it is integrated to the center main bearing. On 97+ 7 bolts (including EVO's) they switched to thrust washer. It's a bearing piece completely separate from the center main bearing.
I can't tell from th pic which style it is, but there are two versions. |
