Goodbye, Pontiac.

Re: Goodbye, Pontiac.
meh, wouldnt bother me to see pontiac go. It's terrible though that 21,000 people are going to lose their jobs not to mention dealerships ect.

Re: Goodbye, Pontiac.
They should get rid of Buick too. I'm really surprised they didn't get rid of Saturn instead though. Hell, Chevy, Saturn, Pontiac, and Buick are all selling the exact same cars with different plastic panels stuck to them.

Yeah but pontiac actually sucks and the cars all look the same. At least Saturn has the Sky and Ion Redline. Buick will go when all the baby boomers are dead. |
Re: Goodbye, Pontiac.
Part of me has always wanted an old Pontiac Firebird, though.

Re: Goodbye, Pontiac.
Have you driven a saturn? They have electric power steering with zero feel or feedback. Way over assisted.
I work on gm vehicles quite a bit at my job. I personally can't stand the way they drive or how they're budget made and designed for the average yahoo who doesn't care/know anything about they're vehicles. They're cars just for transportation. |
Re: Goodbye, Pontiac.
I really liked the G8 GXP :(
|
Re: Goodbye, Pontiac.
im hoping to find a g8 dirt cheap, its a pretty nice car
|
Re: Goodbye, Pontiac.
Pontiac Solstice = Opel GT. 26th car down on the wish list.
|
Re: Goodbye, Pontiac.
The G8 is only nice because it's a Holden. lol

For the "average yahoo" all these no feed back cars are great. Could you imagine what it would be like if people actually had to drive. Pandemonium! I have owned Ford, GM and even a Dodge. Currently I have GM and would never go to anything else again. I hope they can hang in there and continue to pull my boat to the lake. |
Re: Goodbye, Pontiac.
More and more foreign cars are built in the U.S. while fewer and fewer domestics are. Truth of the matter is the domestics haven't been able to catch-up to the foreign cars since the late 70's.
|
Re: Goodbye, Pontiac.
In my esteemed opinion, GM should make like foreign manufacturers and have their Low-Mid level brand, and a High End brand. Chevrolet and Cadillac. Fuck all the rest. Anyone who thinks a buick, saturn, GMC, or pontiac is really any different from any other chevy is a moron.
Take Honda for example: Honda and Acura, Toyota and Lexus (i know, scion too (dumb)), Nissan and Infinity. That's a good idea. |

Mitsubishi and... Mitsubishi....

Re: Goodbye, Pontiac.
I think the reason they're keeping Saturn around is that they are doing somewhat well in Europe. If they do get rid of Pontiac they should make the G8 a Chevy labeled car, and put a damn 6 speed in it. The rest of their line can just go away.
|
Re: Goodbye, Pontiac.
I think saturn and hummer are for sale... they aren't planning on keeping it. If it doesn't sell it goes.

Re: Goodbye, Pontiac.
My careplane has left the airport, let em all fail! This is sooooo wrong, lets put it this way, if animal breeders only bred the runts, they would have a terrible end result.
We need to stop keeping these obsolete companies on life support. Too big to fail my ass. Give me my Opel "Saturn" Sky and my Holden "Pontiac" G8. Corvette is awesome btw. |
Re: Goodbye, Pontiac.
Or maybe they should just regear to what they are good at. Trucks and gas guzzling engines. They could try to compete against International and Mack.
