What should I spend my money on now?
Well its spring and I'm trying to decide on what to buy for my car. I want some more power but Im confused what to do. I have a 95 GST with: 16g turbo, fmic, 255 fuel pump, 550 injectors, Neo AFC, and running 17psi. Im pondering some bigger injectors and an intake manifold, or cams and came gears, or DSM link. Is it preferred to use a PC for that or does a MAC work good too? Any advise would be great

Re: What should I spend my money on now?
I don't think the intake mani or the cam gears are necessary, cams and ECM link is what I would be buying if I had the money.

Re: What should I spend my money on now?
sell the neo and get ecmlink v3. it can run on a mac also. get a set of 272 cams for it,bigger injectors and tune on e85 that would be good for a fun street car

Re: What should I spend my money on now?
exhaust? wideband 02 sensor. dsmlink
|
Re: What should I spend my money on now?
dsmlink ($400-$500 assuming you already have an eprom ecu since it's 1995), then >= 1000cc injectors for e85 (probably $150 after upgrading and selling yours), then cams ($250-$400). Skip the cam gears.
Skip the injectors if you don't want to do e85. First link, then cams. If you don't want to get dsmlink, get a chip that is basically tuned for your injectors. |
Re: What should I spend my money on now?
Alright thanks guys, I'll prolly go with the dsmlink to start out then see how the funds are because i gotta get a 1g running still this summer yet

Re: What should I spend my money on now?
Hookers and blow. That is all. haha

Re: What should I spend my money on now?
^hahaha.
Link FTW. I run 264/272 combo powerband is awesome. |
Re: What should I spend my money on now?
shit, i'd be half tempted to do what Shane did, and just have a chip for mara's car, on a stock ecu..still has NLTS, Antilag, etc..and makes good power. I can contest to it from last night!

Rob?
Anyway, DSMlink is nice because timing can be adjusted if need be. The cams are also good to increase the power band :). |
Re: What should I spend my money on now?
Yup its Rob, and is there a certain brand for cams that is better then any other?

Re: What should I spend my money on now?
hks always makes really nice stuff. i just put brian crowers in mine cause they were cheaper
|
Re: What should I spend my money on now?
FP also makes good ones too, or HKS.
|
Re: What should I spend my money on now?
hks272's and dsmlink, [/discussion] :)
|
Re: What should I spend my money on now?
All of the Above, especially the hookers and blow.
|
Re: What should I spend my money on now?
HKS has a 10+year solid reputation. Crowers are good if they are sized correctly, FP makes some great products as well.
|
Re: What should I spend my money on now?
The Brian Crower cams are cheap, but they work, and they are not regrinds.

Re: What should I spend my money on now?
I have to agree with the responses thusfar, DSMlink is a must and there is definitely some horsepower to be freed up with a camshaft upgrade. Larger injectors and E85 is also a great option. In regards to cam gears they would be pretty much for show only unless you plan to degree in the camshafts.
With that said, let me know if we can be of any assistance with your upcoming modifications :) We can offer a pretty healthy Mitsustyle discount on DSMlink, I have Brian Crower cams and FIC injectors in stock, and just about anything else you can imagine is just a few days away :) Chris Carey |
Re: What should I spend my money on now?
One more vote for Link. If you get Link, a wideband IMO is something you should get to go right along with Link. That way you can just tune it yourself for the most part right out on the street.

Re: What should I spend my money on now?
I concur, a wideband is an invaluable tool. You can get away with an Innovate 3769 unit for like $169.99 without a display and be able to log AFR in DSMlink!
