Gas charged hood props.

Since I spend more time under the hood of my cars then I do driving them, I think it is now time to invest in some hood props.

I went to the Axe Man down in crystal, and I found an amazing deal on 4x hood props, each rated at 40 LBS, leaning against one against the wall, i can depress it all the way, with two, I cannot, so these are extremely powerful.

They are all made in germany, and are used.

Anything on eBay for DSM's? I had NRG hood dampers on my S2k and Mynes dampers on my Evo.

I've got a set on my 4g Eclipse. Works fine.

But everything works fine in warm weather. Wait until some 30 degrees or cooler weather. That's when you will be able to tell if you've got a good set of struts or not.

take some pictures of how you made them work. or how do you mount them to the hood.

Perhaps these would keep my cf hood from slamming shut next windy day at the cookout!

Redline sells 'integrated' hood strut kits with custom brackets.

I've heard that hood dampers aren't recommended for CF hoods. Not sure where I heard that from or why though, you might want to look into it though.

This is generally b/c it takes more pulling force to shut the hood than the carbon fiber hoods can safely take without cracking. With that said, I've seen plenty of people using them with CF hoods w/o issue.

Anyone got anything further on this? Even if I only need one, I really would like to get something like this for the talon. Brandon's hood slammed shut at the track during the tech inspection, and almost slammed on us when we where messing around with his coolant stuff. Slammed on me at the cookout last year, and again on me when I was messing with the boost controller at a gas station this year. I want a resolution for the CF being lighter then a fricken 5mph gust!
