What are DSM people running for tranny fluid these days?
I have had a helluva time finding GL-4 75w-90 locally. I have a hard time believing everyone runs redline in their transmissions.
What do people run for fluid? I want something thicker than synchromeshit. |
Re: What are DSM people running for tranny fluid these days?
Redline is the way to go and its available locally :)

Re: What are DSM people running for tranny fluid these days?

Yeah MAP should have Redline.
I personally run the Redline MTL / MT-90 cocktail. |
Re: What are DSM people running for tranny fluid these days?
Yeah, I found out they have it, and if I can't find any other option, i'll go there. I just wouldn't mind finding something thats more widely available. What does like... a dealership or service center put into a DSM? Does anyone have any perspective on that?

Re: What are DSM people running for tranny fluid these days?
I was running a mix of Redline MTL and MT90 in my trans when a slider let go mid 3rd gear pull. In my TRE trans I'll going to be running straight MT90, TRE has a pretty good read on what fluids he likes.

Re: What are DSM people running for tranny fluid these days?
+1 on MT-90 (x2) and MTL mix.
Mitsu probably uses their own fluid which would be more than $30 for redline I'm guessing. |
Re: What are DSM people running for tranny fluid these days?
I was thinking straight MT90 as well -- high mileage tranny and lots of hard shifting this summer doing autox/rallyx (hopefully)
|
Re: What are DSM people running for tranny fluid these days?
Mitsu uses their OEM Diaqueen fluid. Its expensive and you have to bring in your own jug since they get the GL-4 tranny fluid by the drum. I've used both in my Evo and the Redline is better.

Re: What are DSM people running for tranny fluid these days?
i run pennzoil syncromesh from autozone?
|
Re: What are DSM people running for tranny fluid these days?
I have some Ams oil in it now. Normally, its Redline but nothing local. The only local Redline available was $16/quart.
|
Re: What are DSM people running for tranny fluid these days?
MAP has MT90 for $11 a quart, i've been told.
|
Re: What are DSM people running for tranny fluid these days?
Pennzoil Syncromesh. I asked John Shephard himself, that's what he told me to use.
|
Re: What are DSM people running for tranny fluid these days?
for one of his transmissions? or for an old, high mileage, grindy tranny?
|
Re: What are DSM people running for tranny fluid these days?
Synchromesh all the way. I had a high mileage tranny too and I liked it, it settled my tranny down.
|
Re: What are DSM people running for tranny fluid these days?
I run the amsoil gl-4 and have had great luck with it.
|
Re: What are DSM people running for tranny fluid these days?
What is that?
|
Re: What are DSM people running for tranny fluid these days?
I use redline. I guess Shep also uses it. So, I use it in his tranny. a mix of mt-90, MTL, and the pink heavy shockproof oil..used to use the lightweight stuff. Only reason I switched was cuz MAP was outta the blue shtuff last year.
