EVo 3 tranny in 1g awd. What youpants pulled know?
So what do you know that is helpful about doing this?
I have one, and I need to get some information straight so that I don't have my pants pulled down on a price to have it checked out. I have heard that I just need to change the ring gear and I will be fine to that I need to change intermediate shaft, ring gear and a bunch of other shit i don't know. THanks Aaron |

I was told this by someone that offered to do work on the trans for me.
"there is more to do than just the ring gear. I would need you to either ship me your spare transmission for the parts, or I will need you to completely disassemble your other transmission and pull the front differential, the center differential, the output shaft, the output shaft pinion gear and its tapered roller bearings and bearing races and shims, along with your speed sensor, and a couple other little parts. You NEED to swap the output shaft pinion gear and its tapered roller bearings and races, and the front differential ring gear at the MINIMUM!" |

Re: EVo 3 tranny in 1g awd. What youpants pulled know?
Does the Evo3 rear diff bolt in to a DSM? That would fix everything.

Re: EVo 3 tranny in 1g awd. What youpants pulled know?
Then again you don't have the T-case either. Do the ratios in the t-cse change at all?
|
Re: EVo 3 tranny in 1g awd. What youpants pulled know?
you might need a early 2g t-case

^no.

If you wanted the tree dodging gears then you would want the Evo rear diff. But putting the evo 3 gear set into the DSM case with the DSM final drive ratios for drag racing.

I just want a tranny that will hold mediocre power.
|
Re: EVo 3 tranny in 1g awd. What youpants pulled know?
A stock one will do that. Most of the building is done to make them shift at high RPMs.

Re: EVo 3 tranny in 1g awd. What youpants pulled know?
^ok, i guess i will rephrase that.
One that will not break with the power that I will be putting down or driving it. (not that hard) Looking to hold 500/500 I broke a stock center diff and sheared 3rd, CD went at 320tq(DD), 3rd at 458tq(DJ) |
Re: EVo 3 tranny in 1g awd. What youpants pulled know?
Did you have a 94+ 3rd gear in there?
My built 4th gear stuff was shearing at 600ft/lbs Dynojet. My wifes put down 479tq Dynojet and hasn't ever had any gear chearing problems. |
Re: EVo 3 tranny in 1g awd. What youpants pulled know?
I am not 100% what was in it, 92+ evo compatible gearset is all i know.
Either way, this should provide a good solution for what I am going to throw at it |
