12-03-08 Snow!!!

Those weather people are fucking liars; originally they said in Red Wing we were only to get 1" total, I just got into work at 12am and it already snowed around 2" here and from the looks of the radar it doesn't look like its stopping anytime quick.

Oh well got to do some 4X4 drifting so its all good. There is a big hill by my work that you have to climb to get here, I was going up the hill while others were sliding backwards into the ditches.

:drive1:

Anybody else have any cool stories? I am sure you cities guys will see some cool shit this morning.

coming home from my uncle's house and on the way back, i nearly hydroplaned out of the road to the ditch. im not driving my car right now (i wish i was!!) but i think truck it was pretty damn scary.
it's funny to see tire mark skids the go off the lane and than later you see the end result, somebody stuck in the ditch. i counted 2 in the ditch just coming home from st.paul!

The first 10 days of Real Winter (tm) is always fun. The 10% who are driving idiots end up in the ditch and until that happens, the roads are 'interesting'.

They closed the big hill by my work now because to many people were crashing. Its supposed to stop by 6am though so it might not be too bad in the morning.

It snowed pretty big in Eagan, but then I drove home to Blaine at 3am and Blaine had nothing... haha.

We got a little in Plymouth. Probably an inch.

But it stuck to the roads, and I managed to spin the Talon already. Maybe I should try to get ABS working again...

Nah, delete the ABS, and get snow tires instead. It'll make way more difference.

Iowa has been like snow heaven this past week, but it sucks parking outside and having to brush my car off. Better than ice I suppose. The roads are all snow packed here, drifting opportunity literally at ever corner.

The ABS on the 1Gs is useless.

Yeah, I noticed that pretty much every Iowa city sucks at getting their roads plowed before they get too heavily trafficked for it to do any good.

Barely a dusting in St. Louis Park/Hopkins.

1G ABS is junk; pull the fuse for it.

Not a flake in Ham Lake/Blaine.

Kinda OT: Did the 1995 GSX's come with ABS? How would i know if i have it?

Re: 12-03-08 Snow!!!

You probably have ABS. Slam on the brakes in the snow and see if it kicks in! But I guess you don't have snow... nevermind.

In the driver's side front fender there should be an ABS box with a bunch of brake lines running in and out of it, it's silver and sits near the AC dryer/canister. You'll also see the lines running in the engine bay near the cam gears that go to the ABS box. On startup you should also see the ABS light flash for a second and turn off.

Re: 12-03-08 Snow!!!

Even stopping fast on dry pavement should activate abs, you will feel it. You will just slide if it isnt working.

Re: 12-03-08 Snow!!!

I've been under the impression that all 2g AWDs had ABS standard.

Re: 12-03-08 Snow!!!

I locked up the front wheel on my bike on the snow the other day. :)

Slammed my face into the ground and slid into traffic.

I LOVE SNOW!!
