Sexy. I want to rub on them.

Re: My sunday afternoon activity
I like the all black look. Too many cars here have black with red lip.

Re: My sunday afternoon activity
Looks really good! I love that you have the good taste to black out the winter wheels!

Re: My sunday afternoon activity
I used duplicolor 1634 high-temp/low-gloss engine paint on top of a layer of their self-etching primer. Before all that I wet sanded the wheels with 400 and then 1000 grit sandpaper. I also sanded lightly with 1000 grit after the second coat of primer and second coat of paint. In all there were three light shots of primer, four light shots of paint, and then two 'medium wet' shots of paint. The paint was all applied within an hour. Looks pretty good.
This is the basic pattern I've been using on the car; calipers, front bumper center, rear lower 1/4, etc. Been slowly getting rid of all the chrome on the car replacing it with low-gloss black. If I can figure out how to open up the headlight capsules next spring, the headlights get this treatment internally. Otherwise I'm grabbing a cheap set of after-market projectors and play with them. |

Re: My sunday afternoon activity
Rattlecan doesn't last long on wheels.

Re: My sunday afternoon activity
Seems to work fine on mine! But i used duplicolo wheel paint. Been fine for over two summers now even with washing. It's all in the prep.
|
Re: My sunday afternoon activity
Lots and lots of prep. Cleaning & degreasing, wet sanding, drying, taping off, proper use of a good primer, proper use of a good paint. Lots of thin coats.
If you don't take most of a day to do 4 wheels, you're doing it too fast. |
Re: My sunday afternoon activity
If it looks like ass after the winter, i'll strip them down and do a better job when its nice out! I just wanted to get them done so I can get them on!

Re: My sunday afternoon activity
Now they look like mine, nice.
