Wonder what it runs in the 1/4 mile or even the standing mile. Looks pretty sweet in all angles.

Google told me this... "the capability to do 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds, the ability to reach a top speed of 205 mph and a quarter-mile time of 11.3 seconds." but I think it's gonna be well in the 10s with drag radials ... like a 10.5 at 133 is my guess. The damn new Viper traps 131 stock... wtf.

Another thing I found... hah. Expensive tires much?

At 335/R2520, the rear tires resemble something you might find in a steamroller; the fronts are a not-much-more-modest 285/R3019

Don't let the GTR nutswingers see this! LOL

That ZR1 is a damn wicked machine! Have they announced a MSRP for it yet?

*edit*
Google tells me ~$100k

Yeah I saw that... I meant "real" numbers, not some pussy ass driver that is not driving it like it should be driven!

I saw an old zr-1 today coming back from a job I was at. It was really nice, all stock looking and mint. I'd take either one, but probably the new one. :D

Re: ZR1 domination

The old ones were cool at the time, but archaic these days. My dad had one in the late 90's, I waxed him by eight car lengths with my little old GSX. He sold it not long after that.

The Vettes really suffer from chassis flex. I remember driving his ZR1 and you could literally see the front end twist when you got on it, this is on a pampered 40k mile car with the roof bolted in. It would about twist in half with the roof off.

Awesome car, very impressive!

Re: ZR1 domination

That twist is called torque, I don't know if you know what that is. But it happens a lot in v8 cars.

JET 11-04-2008 11:16 AM

Re: ZR1 domination

No, that twist is called shit chassis design, vettes were notorious for it. Seriously, a leaf spring suspension in a sports car?!? The new ZR1 rocks though, especially for the money! Now if Nissan would throw 16 psi at the GTR, that would be a good race. I agree we need to see those cars go around a track and see what happens!

SnoEclipse 11-04-2008 11:28 AM

Re: ZR1 domination

Nissan and Toyota are both recalling and completely replacing way too many of their V8 motors. Imagine what would happen with a super/turbocharger on one of those boat anchors.......

Thats one of the most ingenious areas of the car. The springs are not old school at all, they are totally modern composite structure used in a smart way.

"The Corvettes transverse leaf springs serve the same purpose as coil springs in other vehicles, but they are lighter and allow for the vehicles mass to be closer to the ground. The springs also allow for thinner/lighter anti-roll bars since they can assume some of that duty"
