Tire tread height difference on AWD
Hey guys,
I'm just curious what you guys would do. I have two brand new Blizzak WS-50 and two lightly used ones. The new ones are 12/32 and the used are 9/32. 1/8 total height difference, or .5% overall height difference. I've been brainwashed to believe in what the automakers say, not if you can help it. However on the Evo, I worry a bit. I have seen Audi's with AWD wear tires to bigger differences in normal driving. Will I be find putting these on there? If so, where should I put the newer ones so they get worn down first (front or rear bias)? Thanks, -Mike |
Re: Tire tread height difference on AWD
You should be fine. .5% is such a minimal difference it won't matter. I would put the new tires up front.

You'll be fine, it really isn't that much of a difference. Anything more than that and I'd say no.

Re: Tire tread height difference on AWD
I figured it's the difference between a couple pounds of air in the tires. Say, like the 3psi difference mitsu says to run :)
Cool, thanks guys. I'm putting them on this week. |
Re: Tire tread height difference on AWD
its fine for sure. the fronts will most likely wear out faster than the rears btw.

Put the ones with more tread up front.
