Another EPL Stage 3 S4 with Aquamist HFS-1 installed

I know it's not a mitsu, but the kit is the same and it WORKS! Thought I'd share my install with y'all...

I just finished up installing another Aquamist HFS-1 Alcohol/Water injection system in Mike Cooper's EPL Stage3 S4. The car previously put down 340whp/390wtq on DB's Dyno Dynamics dyno on teeny K04 turbos. Now it will be breaking 360whp/430wtq with ease. Here's some pics from the install:

Tapping the stock IC pipes:

Installed 2x injection mounts filled with 2x .7mm nozzles, one in each pipe for about 630cc's of total injection goodness:

And re-installed in the car:

Then back to the flow meter and on/off valve mounted under the ECU:

I kept all wiring and tubing runs as clean and tidy as possible:

'Fabbing' up the tank mount:

Pump is mounted under tank nice and sturdy, and wiring loom and 8mm tubing is run though some braided nylon tubing for extra protection:

What alcohol injection system officer? :)

2.5 gallon tank fits perfectly behind this little door, just love how clean this looks:

Mid install, all wires run to where they need to go, time to connect it all together:

Once everything is tidied up, looks a little more like this, with plenty of excess wire for gauge relocation in the future:

'Temp' mount that seems to last forever for most guys :)

It's 2am, Mike just left with a BIG smile on his face! Install went awesome, cut the sh1t out of my hand because these things are b1tches like that :) WHy do you think they call them OWWDIES?

Nice work hiding the tank in the trunk. Good work Scheides!

So is that thing pretty quick then?

We were doing 80-160 runs to do a basic performance test comparison if that gives you any idea :) I would say a 300-350whp dsm or evo would give this thing a run for its money no problemo until about 100mph, this thing just walks up top!

Kinda/not really. Sounds like it has some mean top end though.

if it makes 350whp it makes 350whp. How can it walk harder up top than any other car of similar power and weight. Dont you dare bring aero into this!

i HIGHLY doubt an S4 has a more aggressive set of gear ratios than an evo

Id say the gears are longer in the owdie.

S4s make all that torque, so they feel fast, when they really aren't.

And there in lies your answer: weight. Curb weight of an S4 is like 3600 pounds, 3700 for an avant. Evo is closer to 3200.

Also, B5 S4's suck at making power if they do not have enough airflow to the intercoolers. First and second gear I swear the things are down on power compared to the upper gears where they have the airflow needed to cool their teensy SMIC's. When attending their dyno/tuning days I've seen firsthand them cry about needing 18 million CFM of airflow, otherwise their intake temps go through the roof. They end up with like 6 squirrel-cage fans, it's hilarious.

Just after my car dyno'd 304whp on shane's dyno, I did a 10mph-100mph roll with an S4 putting down 350whp (same dyno, and on a closed course of course!) and we were neck and neck. Shane is right. These things feel fast, but pound for pound, whp for whp, and especially dollar for dollar, they cannot keep up :)
