In my garage pissed, at my 98 GSX in the garage, the 90 GSX in the driveway, and they both piss me off.

Today I am pissed at the alternator belt that is broken. (90 GSX)

Also one of the exhaust manifold to turbo bolts wont bolt in all the way (98 GSX)

Post what your angry at with your car and vent a little.

520Talon 03-15-2004 05:59 PM

I wish I only had your problem. One motor with one weekend on it, junk. One tranny with fresh rebuild, also one weekend on it, hole throught he side and damage from all the fluid leaking out of said hole, not quite junk, but close. Three flat tires leaving only three good, sucks. Head and exahust mani, possible turbo, loaded up with shinny lead deposits from bad gas also from same weekend, need intensive cleaning invoving scrubbing.

So a broken alternator belt? Takes longer to get to the part store than replace. Check to make sure it didn't break because of a separating harmonic balancer. Symtoms usually involve all of the belts breaking though.

Mani to turbo bolt? Did you make sure the treads are clean? I don't know what to do other than clean them and maybe add some heat.

Moral is don't get pissed, just look at it as an other oppertunity to learn abou the cars you love and think about all the time you will save in the future because you've done it before and is easy now. Before you know it you will be swapping motors with leathermans in hotel parking lots for fun. I think there are a couple of members here who can already do it. I'll let them claim that themselves.

P.S. If you want to be pissed, drive behind a semi that drops its load in front of you causing damage to your car. ~$700-1000. Not your fault at all, then you can be pissed. (details on other thread)

Ahhhh, yes. Fond memories from the shootout! (actually it was a clutch swap, right shane? :stick: :D )

leaky trany which lead to overheat of trany and which lead to bearing failure.... which lead to diff thru the housing...
I AM PISSED...

its been 6 months since the clutch change.. and the car hasn't been driven since.. :( ...

Now that its in the final stages of the new trany and another $2k later.. its down to the last few days and then the moment of the truth..

Then i have to figure out why the alt belt squals and it keeps getting ripped :(
other than that waiting for Mike to come and check out how much my crank has walked .. i try to keep it from walking but it wants freedom..

Insanely high oil pressure sucks! I get 140 or so at idle, I think my relief valve is stuck, but it's fucking brand new! So far 2 filters are looking pretty weird and have blown seals. Need to check it out but I won’t have time till Friday.

Haven't been able to drive my car in 4 months. Waiting on parts, waiting on more parts, still waiting on only injectors now. Got suckered into doing 2 turbo swaps on HORT cars instead of working on my own car last week on spring break. When car is able to be driven, it will still need a tranny rebuild (2nd gear synchro). Now it seems to be becoming a parts car as it is not running. Since it is sitting there it wouldn't hurt to borrow this would it (FUCK YEAH IT WOULD). Even though I am borrowing the parts, I have to unistall it and install it again as I do not trust other people who borrowed it. Has depleted my bank account and it doesn't even run.

Totalled my DSM in October, found another oone in Febraury! After waiting over a month with no work done by the "delivery" company I decided to make the trip myself. Here I go, leaving tonight to get my broken DSM, at least I bought it that way ;)

And oh yeah, did I mention I will be driving a huge ass cargo van with a full car trailer through a possible blizzard? Yeah, this shit will be an adventure...

hey hey I was in on the clutch job too :liar: haha j/k well you all cant have as bad as luck as I have with mine... here goes...

1st tranny=broken 3rd gear shift fork
2nd tranny=broken 3rd 4th gear shift rail
3rd tranny=broken 3rd 4th grear shift rail
4th tranny=broken diff pin...shattered case to peice's (new years eve)
5th tranny=diff pin slightly broke, pin sheared off...sat out far enough to hit the case and put a small hole in the case...(just happen 3/14/04)

ummm the day before my birthday the timing belt snapped also.... and now I need to fix a oil leak on the front cover, and re-do my timing belt...so yeah this sucks ball's... I think I'm gonna sell mine and find an awd with good tranny and compression!

TRUE STORY

I was racing a RX7 in my DSM, when I hit the nawz button my laptop said manifold warning, so i yelled at it and slammed the damn thing shut, next thing I knew my rivits on the floor pan blew up and my floor pan fell out!

THEN I fried the piston rings, and lost the car in a bet, (hey, all I wanted was respect, to some people thats more important.) So Baldy said he was gonna have "Frankenstein" replace the the piston rings I fried..... then when on to bable how winning is winning... according to any real racer.

THEN..... the PO POs showed up, I ran, and rescued the bald dude in the Se7en, and he had to sit with his feet above the ground, then we got ambushed by this motorcycle gang with guns. They proceded to shoot my DSM up with BULLETS!!!!
It then started on fire, and when I yelled NAAAAWWWZZ we ran and then it blew up.... Roof scoop and all!

I then had to walk 20 miles back to "baldies" place, where I scored with his hot sis..

TRUE STORY

And that is why I hate my DSM. :fworld:
So I bought a SRT :bounce:

So true. 7 months for me. :(

I've never driven the DSM that I own... Is that enough to constitute hate toward it?

CopperGSX 03-16-2004 09:33 AM

"O how do I hate thee" :razz2:

Rear wheel bearings going out
Second gear grind when downshifting
ICS causing Irratic Idle
Exhaust leak (Got Gaskets to fix it but weather sucks)
Various squeeks and rattles

But hey having a love affair is not always easy. It's a game of give and take as well as sacrifices.

Most if not all will be fixed this summer. The money pit strikes again.

Let me guess, you maybe had replaced your belts and or timing belt as well?

I think i know whats wrong.. thanx to someone who likes to put things upside down inside out i have found a solution ( i bleive)

one of the pulleys is put inside out/upside down, and i think its the water pump pulley.. It is off only by like 2 mm and it is more enough for it to squeal like a pig it is..
(just my theory) i will still have to verify this once i get my trany back into the car and working..

-E

and that is why i have a love/hate relationship with my DSM

Raptor 03-16-2004 10:19 AM

:dsmrule: I don't hate mine even though I havn't had 1st gear for over a year now and it has a pathetic 95 motor in it which I am really disgusted by. I figure the tranny is a good thing as I should be able to launch about anything with all my experience driving it this way. As far as the motor goes, it hasn't walked yet and runs pretty well for what it is. I will like the car better when said problems are fixed, but I am far from hating it. I reserve that emotion for people who talk shit and can't back it up.
