New Evo owner
New Evo owner as of last week. Was looking at an Sti, but it was an easy trade in of my 2002 Toyota MR2 for this low mileage Evo.
If anybody knows the history of this car, I would be interested to hear it. It's a 2004 GSR SSL that has 33k miles on it, still has a forged BOV, boost gauge and cone filter on the vehicle. I suspect it had other mods also. The wheels that were on it were black painted stock wheels with some road rash. I had the dealer switch them with the wheels of another Evo on the show floor. I suspect it might have had a hard first life so I plan on replacing all the fluids and checking everything out. http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/400/img1933uv6.jpg http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/1460/img1934co6.jpg I'm looking to slowly work this car towards a BSP Autocross car/ daily driver. I just need some nice 18x10 wheels :) |

I got sick of always having a beater car in the winter. I was planning on driving the MR2 year round this year. Getting in an out of a very small car every day with my bad back (22, it's sad really) it was taking a toll. I figured just getting married and with my back, that it be best to get something with four doors. And fun in the winter is a must! Which is why AWD and a turbo come in. |
Re: New Evo owner

Re: New Evo owner
did you buy that car a walser mitsu, cause I was lookin at that car a couple weeks ago and when I first got there, they said that it wasnt for sale because it didnt pass inspection, and then they told me about the accident that it was in.

Re: New Evo owner
Welcome!
The best thing to do is preventative maintenance and really check things out. -replace spark plugs -possibly replace plugwires & boots -change all drivetrain fluids -absolutely do a boost leak test -log it, make sure it's running ok -clean the living sh1t out of it, under the hood, outside, wheels, brakes, etc -LOVE IT! |
Re: New Evo owner
i like that list. now only if i did the rest of the top

I finally got a look at the car at the shop I work at (I was on vacation all last week). The front camber is off, there is new bracing bolts. Not too bad. However the front intercooler piping to frame bolts are not attached, some soft bolts are missing. They said they replaced the rear control arm and aligned it. It had 1degree of total toe in!!! The rear frame where it bolts to the bumper supports has been bent and then straightened. There are still bend marks and holes that could rust. The left rear quarter has bondo cracks, and the paint doesn't match exactly. I was never told this was wrecked!!! I'm going back tonight. Already talked to them. I'll be giving a full look over to their 2005 model. Thanks Mike for making me nervous enough to go through it with a fine tooth comb. You saved me a $20k mistake! |
Re: New Evo owner
If I don't walk away with a red one, I might just walk with a check and get a rental car for a few days. Can anyone recommend a good clean Evo?
