Precondition for the purchase eurerseits would be following things:

* Knowledge in electronics
* Knowledge of PC technology
* Skills in programming (especially Visual Basic)
* Knowledge of micro controller

lots of carputer options out there but nothing as 'integrated' as the MR2.

The hardware and most of the software is COTS. Getting it all to work together is the trick.

I was working on something like this, but never finished. I even got the .Net app talking to the ODBII sensor but then had a HD crash on my projects drive and lost the code. I just haven't worked up the courage to start the project again.

That and EvoScan 2.5 is pretty damn hot already.
