Post your turbo, timing, fuel and fuel ratio!

Lets see what what you guys and gals are all running because I think mine is too high! Ill start off....

EvoIII 16g
19 degrees + 5 base
E85
11.8:1 (Gasoline stoich)

Boost and compression ratio would help too.

Also, if your logger says 19 degrees, then that already includes the 5 degrees base.

9.0 Compression
60-1 @ 27psi
17 degrees
E85
~11.3:1 at WOT

Re: Post your turbo, timing, fuel and fuel ratio!

EVO III 16g @ 22psi
AFR ~ 11.8 - 12:1 (I love Meth!)
Timing = 19 degrees at redline

Re: Post your turbo, timing, fuel and fuel ratio!

Evo316G, 22 psi
E85
AFR - 12-12.5
Timing is 15max.

For some reason the car likes it that lean, richer and it knocks and doesn't drive as nice.

Re: Post your turbo, timing, fuel and fuel ratio!

Evo8 (stock compression) w/ IX 16g, 29psi peak
100% methanol or 50/50% methanol, same results, except afr
11.4:1 (100% meth), 11.8:1 (50/50)
Timing is 15-16 way up top but 14 through the main peak power section.
I've been trying to find a way to get the car to run more timing, but it just wants to knock.

Evo3 16g - 27psi
E85
AFR - 12.5
Timing - 19

Your timing might even be a little low if you're on a stock motor. I use to run 22-24 degrees on a 20g / dual sides mounted up front on 92.

You didn't mention your intercooler either, which also plays a big role in timing.

My wife's car:

SC61
E85
13 degrees
11.0:1 A/F (It changes though depending on mix or mood)

So am i running on the dangerous side of being at 12.5?

Re: Post your turbo, timing, fuel and fuel ratio!

I have slowboy's front mount. I also didnt know the 5 initial was included in the logger.

So I assume it always assumes 5 degrees no matter where it is on the logger?

Im pushing coolant and was trying to figure out if my cylinder pressure is too high. Maybe its time for a head gasket. I do have a cometic with arp head studs right now.

No your good, I'm running the same A/F but with 19 degrees of timing. Also not to mension when we went to the track I was running a 15.2 afr and didn't know that til the dyno..

You might be fine. I usually just run them richer to have some amount of safety in case the mix changes or something goes wrong. And I haven't seen much for gains running E85 cars leaner, unlike with race gas, so I don't push it. I have actually had some all-motor E85 cars make more power running about a point A/F richer than we would normally run them on gas.

Re: Post your turbo, timing, fuel and fuel ratio!

Well regardless im pushing coolant. Now I got a misfire at idle and cruising. And I see water coming out my tailpipe. Time to pull it!

Re: Post your turbo, timing, fuel and fuel ratio!

Well I pulled my spark plugs and found on one of the plugs, the insulator that goes around the center electrode had somehow moved all the way down the electrode, probably causing my idle misfire, by arcing internally or not sparking at all.

Maybe you want to start your own thread, instead of hijacking this one.

^Um, noob. He started this thread so that he could figure out if his problem was with the tune he did.
He gave us the results.

What kind of plugs are you using? I have had the happen to me twice with Autolite plugs, I switched to NGK and its never happen again.

Re: Post your turbo, timing, fuel and fuel ratio!

Im runnin BPR8ES plugs gappped at .026.

I was told they may be tool cold running e85 and may be causing cylinder freeze which causes detonation. I will find out today as im gonna put in bp7es's in gapped at .024

Shane@DBPerformance 10-01-2008 10:58 AM

Re: Post your turbo, timing, fuel and fuel ratio!

We run 8s in my wifes car and almost every Evo 8 runs 8s. .026" gap is on the bigger side for an higher boost E85 car though.
