power converter question

So I've got some big led neon tubes and a few black lights that are all made to be hooked up to a car battery. Well since I've moved out of my ricer stage and recently moved into a new house, I'd like to mount some of these on my walls so we can get a little dance party action goin on. I did a little google-ing on power converters and what I need in order to plug these into an outlet.

Basically I need a 120-12 volt converter, but what I found was some of these converters look very much like cell phone chargers. So, I'm wondering if there is any sort of charger that might work as a converter. Or what kind of converter I should go about using.

I'd like something I can wire all the neons into and then plug in.

start looking at the plugins at the ratings on them and what they can or cant put out, most say on them

o you dont know what the neons NEED, dont really gt an answer for ya and you really dont want to start a fire so ill pass this on to someone else, unless you just want to try out and see what happens

probably around 12vdc and 10amps. You can wire these neons directly into your vehicles wiring. So just get a 12vdc converter that has about 10amps

Yea anything with 12v dc output will work, those black bricks that plug in are AC/DC converters and step down the voltage. They should usually say what the output voltage is.

Then to hook it up you just need to cut off the plug and use the two wires for positive and negative to hook up to the lights.

That converter should work just fine Brian. I dont see a real problem with you starting anything on fire with neon lights.

850 milliamps may not be enough. I have no idea what the amperage requirements for those neons are. You might try grabbing one from Ax-Man. Look for 12-14 volt output and as many amps as you can.

A computer power supply might be a good possibility as well.

I have an AC/DC converter sitting in my room. Worked great for when I put neons up. I'd sell it to you for cheap if you want. PM me if interested.

So you used it to plug car neons up to a wall outlet? My buddy works at a guitar place and he's gunna see if he can get me a couple like the one in the link. If those don't work I'll let you know How much is cheap? I've seen these go from $3-300

Wow no thanks. I'd rather just get that simple $3 one.
