Well I checked my compression and wow that sucks since i put the head back on... i lost at least 20psi per cyl. so I'm thinking that the head or block is warped any thoughts? I'm also debating on selling it and getting a AWD...or one more idea is build the spare 6 bolt i have laying here, and then throw that in my car? any idea's what i should do with the compression being that crappy? there all 120psi or lower my lowest is 100 :headache: :fworld: man that sucks!1111

Sell it go AWD. on the trader there are a few 1G Shells for $300 if your willing to pick it up. And then just build the spare 6bolt.

Take my shell away from my garage after I pull the rear end. Put a 3 or 4 bolt in yourself, find a tranny, and xfer case, put your engine in and call it close. ;)
Wait until about mid to late June, find yourself a new ride, and sell your current car to me :bounce:
that compression is honestly not the worst. it's bad, no doubt, but i dunno, if you want teh AWD, go for it.
That compression is bad, I dont know what your talking about ^, but it will eat oil and blow it too. I guess you could have worse but then its just junk...
i say take the 6bolt go over to QPR or elite and have them build you long block... it is definetely worth the extra few hundred because you have peace of mind knowing it is done right!!! I know i will be having them do my next engine.. and i will try to be there when they work on it so that i learn in progress....
There is no better way of learning than being there when the pro's are doing it, and in the process you might learn how to take care of your engine better than you ever could by yourself!!! _E |
I might be interested in your car as-is. Let me know if you're selling it.
No offense but I wont bring it to QPR I would be building it myself since I know how to build them.. I talked with mo tonight up at elite for a bit and we both cam to the conclusion that one of my cam's is off a tooth.. its weird caues every cyl. is off exactly 20psi, I'm just gonna wait until I have some more funds and then buy a gasket kit and a new timing belt again since theres some oil on this one and put new seals in the front cover and also make sure that the belt is on perfectly..(I'll be taking the motor out) so I know its right and nothings off. I mean the only thing that I changed when i put it back together is 3 exhaust valves... same headgasket and well head stud's also I suppose counts to, but they were put in properly too. So I'm as of now just saving some doh... might as well re ring it and also new bearing's while its out right??lol
One stupid question. When you had the head off, did you resurface it? If not, it's a possibility that it is a little warped. And did you say you used the old headgasket? Was it a fairly recently replaced headgasket or what? If it was the old one, no wonder it's low on compression. Do a leakdown test to find out exactly where the pressure is going. I know QPR could help you out with that if you can get the car down to them.
are you kiddin me lol no I didnt use the same headgasket its was brand enw along with the timing belt and my head stud's the head was not decked and nor was the block I dropped a straight edge on the head and block and both checked out ok. I will be doing a leak down once I check all the timing again (cam's off?) and let you know whats going on

I kinda figured you would have used a new one. It just sounded like you didn't from what you typed. Sorry about that. I would definately spend the few dollars and have the head surfaced.

Cam gear off a tooth.
You can check the cam/timing belt alignment w/o taking anything apart. Line the gears up to TDC check the timing marks on the crank pulley. Your timing mark should sit @ 0, if not you got a misalignment problem.
