Quick Tuning

I'm planning on hitting up the Sept. 13 Rockfalls. And also a quick re-tune, but right now i dont have the $$$ for it. It really sucks because i dont have a AFR gauge to look at either. Anyways, here was my AFRs at the last dyno meet i was at.

As you can see, my AFR spikes near detonation between the 5000-5850rpms. It really sucks that i dont know what my AFRs are, but the previous owner had it street tuned for daily driving at LSE. It's a blast to drive daily, but when pushing it, there is alot of black smoke(RICH). Right now, i have 550s, 190, E316G, 2g manifold, HKS air filter. I've been trying to tune it slightly after reading about "Tuning DSMs" a couple hundred times. I acknowledge that a AFR gauge and Pocket logger is a must, but i dont have those yet. My thottle points are at 25 and 75 and here are my Hi and Lo points.

HI- 1000-3000 (-14) 4000(-12) 5000-8000(-10)
LOW- 1000-3000(-18) 4000(-15) 5000-8000(-10)

ugh...this tuning thing is interesting, but maybe i should just go to Shane for a quick re-tune. Let me know what you guys think.

Go to Shane since you freely admit you don't have a clue and you have no way to properly monitor your engine and tune from.

If Shane is too booked you could try MAP's new tuner too on their AWD Dynojet.

Re: Quick Tuning

you HAVE to have a logger and wideband, its the only way. SPEND the money w/ shane, get it DONE!

Or, blow up your car. Have fun!

Re: Quick Tuning

A logger is required yes, but for a basic street tune a wideband isn't required. Its the norm now, but we did fine w/o for many years :)

P.S. I have a wideband in my car so I'm not trying to hate!

If you're really old skool, you could read the plugs between runs, but I digress.

Looks like you might be providing some extra parts for the GVR4 community if you don't wise up.

^^^hahah...i wish there were parts for the GVR4 community. I'm planning to buy a rebuilt 6-bolt 4G63 or an EVO 3 motor pretty soon...so if this motor blows, i have a spare to go to with. I'm going to run the motor as is to Rock Falls for shits and giggles. i dont think im going to stay with SAFC. after the swap, i will go DSMLink. thanks for replying guys. ;)

yeah, at least it gives me something to fool around with during winter. I dont have the "glory" of a spare 4g63 motor to play with, but it's interesting to know this kind of stuff(engine) in mind.
