NOGAF/Rant/Long Warning... My trip to the E.R.
I took a non-life threatening trip to the ER today. Cliff notes at the bottom.
I woke up and had a little bit of a stomach ache, but I thought nothing of it and went to work. As I sat there, I kept feeling crappier and crappier. I started to get a sharp stabbing pain in my upper left abdomen, and just general pain all over my body. I felt like I was going to puke and got really shakey and weak. I told my boss, and told me to finish off the work day from home on my laptop. By the time I got home, I was just about doubled over in pain. It was incredibly painful. Mind you - I'm the type of person that never complains about a headache, backache, or whatever. If my back hurts, and you ask me to lift 50lbs bags of whatever, I'll do it without complaining. I actually had to call my Mom to drive me to the E.R. cause I couldn't sit up straight. I get to the E.R. and they check me in. Sat around the waiting room for about half an hour. Once they called me, they took me into the room and started to give me an IV for fluids (just in case I was dehydrated - fairly normal I guess for GI problems). The doctor came in, checked me out, and asked me a bunch of questions. His diagnosis while I was there was to give me some medication for the pain - small amount of morphine. That was pretty fun for about 10 minutes, loopy and watching Olympic women's water polo. He also gave me this horrid, chalky liquid to drink. It smelled like a dog food factory's chemical bath's sulfur-enriched fart. But I downed it. I started to feel a little better after all that. I was in the E.R. for about 3 and a half hours to find out that I most likely have an ulcer. Too much work (3 jobs), too much stress... it all added up. They don't know for sure because they didn't do all the tests. They gave me a prescription and want me to see how I'm doing in a few days. For the next 22 hours, I'm on a strict clear liquid diet and on medication. Sprite and water... ugh. I still feel really shitty right now. Cliff notes: Went to the E.R., found out I have an ulcer, and didn't even see one hot nurse at the hospital. https://www.t-mobilepictures.com/mya...5f5c11a3f.jpeg |

They don't have hot nurses at hospitals anymore. Well, in Fargo they do, but only rarely.

Good news is, Stoli's is a clear liquid :) |
Re: NOGAF/Rant/Long Warning... My trip to the E.R.
You went to the ER just so they could diagnose an ulcer? Weak sauce. ;)
I just had some abdominal pain, but I farted and now it's all better. :hah: |

That really sucks though, but its probably a good thing they did not do all the test there considering the price of ER's. Anyways, if it does not start to feel better I would make an apt with your normal doctor and don’t let them push you around and just brush you off. If you are in pain still and you don’t normally complain about it, make sure they take you seriously. Although I work in health care, I will be the first one to admit not all doctors will take the time to truly find out what is wrong with someone. Lots these days just think if you give someone meds it will shut them up and make them go away. So take care of your self! Clear liquid diets suck...but just because you can see through some beers does not mean its ok to have lol, it will eat away at your stomach lining even more. Just wondering, because I'm lame like this, what ER did you go to? |

I went to North Memorial off Hwy 81. Thanks for the replies. Hopefully I'll be feeling better by this weekend for the cookout. :)

I had intense sharp pains hitting me non stop. Morphine and other drugs worked on me for about 2 minutes in the ER. Even after my surgery, laying on the bed 24/7, they gave me this button that when i push, it lets loose morphine into my body. I was in so much pain, used up alot of morphine. The doc / nurses cut my morphine supply b/c they said i was using too much. After that, i was in pain all over. They stuck tubes all over my body. One tube had the width of my pinky goin up my nose all the way to my stomach suckin out acids n so forth to the coffee pot sittin next to my head. It was kinda cool seeing what the insides of your stomach look like in a pot. It wasn't pretty tho. Could laugh at all, couldn't talk. any movement hurt your body. paralized for a long time. Couldn't use the bathroom. had a tube go in there lol. but anyways lol, take care of that stomach, b/c it hurts like hell if it becomes a perforated ulcer. You'll get a nasty scar on your stomach for life if they have to do surgery. In addition, everytime my stomach hurts, it makes me worry to death. Flashbacks are brutal. |
