I'm new!
 

Well, not to Minnesota... but certainly to DSMs. I picked up a '96 TSi AWD back in April, and it's my first.

I was born here in the cities, grew up in Plymouth, and for the past two years have been in Ames, Iowa as a student at Iowa State. But between failing out of school and a breakup that left me unwelcome in my apartment for this fall, I made the decision to come home and live off my parents, and will be taking classes at Normandale until I can get back in to ISU.

Now, as for the car... as stated is a '96 TSi AWD, owned previously by a DSM guy, and was his 5th Talon. Sold it to me for $3500 in what was basically his "getting out of DSMs" sale. So far I've done the few free mods that he hadn't, and am going to start work on the suspension next. Plans are for this to be a decent autox car when I'm through with it, while staying reliable enough to drive on the daily.

It was nice meeting some of you at Old Chicago last night. I'll be there every week I can :D

I love this one, where the camera's parallel to the suspension shift as opposed to the horizon.


As you can probably tell, I'm not very good at autox yet... but all in good time. You can't blame me, while trying to learn AWD, turbo, and autox all at the same time.

EDIT: And along the lines of me being the first noob to show up to a meet first thing... My account didn't actually get activated until the morning after. :D I'd like to see someone beat that!

Pretty much just suspension stuff for the foreseeable future. Tower bars and a bigger rear sway bar sometime this fall, and likely bushings this coming spring. Not having a heated garage sucks. Coilovers are on the list, but they're not exactly a cheap upgrade, and likely won't be until later next year at the earliest.

The engine's not going to be left off the list completely, but I'll only being doing the necessary stuff, like replacing that crappy intercooler piping. Most of the free mods have been done already.
