lowering springs install cost - really that high?

Wow! I have checked with a couple of places and they both quoted me $400+ just to do the lowering springs swap.

Is it really that expensive?

Let's say $250-$300 for lowering springs + a $450 install. That's $750.

Seems to me that a coilover would be easier to swap/install. An extra $300 would probably do it. (Megan Coilovers) Only problem with the Megans are the rusting issues I've been reading about (sucks). :-(

I guess I'll be 4-wheeling it for now with my 4g.

Rent a spring compressor, couple bucks.
Buy a couple cases of beer, few bucks.
Call a couple of buddies, grab some tools, go to work, free.

Have you checked Club4G.com for info?

AutoZone has a free loaner spring compressor, or I bet Jeff the Alignment Guy in Bloomington would do a spring install for $100-200 MAX.

That's why everybody here has become a mechanic.

Yeah, I'm getting there slowly. And when it comes to these heavy stuff, my neck slows me down (neck injury).

:-)

Yeah, I've been to club4g.org for the how-to stuff. I'm tempted to attempt it but also just checking the pricing.

I'll check more. If I can find someplace that can also do alignments, that would be perfect.

I may have to check with Jeff the alignment guy. :-) That sounds more reasonable.

www.thealignmentguy.com

Jeff is awesome. I refuse to go anywhere else for alignments. He does small installs such as suspension as well.

Yay! I got the pro-kit springs on by myself. (got an air compressor and impact wrench)

Did have to use a spring compressor to reassemble the fronts (not the rears).

Only thing that was bad was my neck got some punishment (just took extra pain killers) but still a feeling of accomplishment.

Ok, here's a pic. Waiting for my intake to come tomorrow so I haven't done much pic taking.
