Anyone know of a yellow evo that cruises around wayzata Mitsu? On the way home, the Hopkins organized street racing clan ,HOSRC,(remy, Iceman, 92gstex, 92tsiawd84 and I) found an evo on 12 heading towards 494. We tryed racing him but it didn't seem like he wanted to race. All of a sudden, he floors it. Remy and I, driving next to him, took off after. He pulled ahead a little until my turbo started spooling and I started pulling on him. Once noticing, he grabbed the brakes. He slowed down to 40 on 12/394 (speed limit 65) and pulled over quickly behind the montero. Todd, standing out the Montero's moonroof, was trying to waive him over to race us as we were going slow also. Instead, he remained on the bumper of the montero going 40 and exited a few blocks after.
Cant wait until I get a logger and can tune this car, I am running rich. |
Which turbo are you running? 20G or 60trim?

20g. His car is a laggy bitch now. Now his car is a top end car. Boost doesn't build till over 5000.
|
i bet the evo owner was just driving home from work only to have you guys confuse him/scare him... lol, i think him flooring it was an act of desperation. lol, i dont know

I walked an EVO about a month ago pretty well. running 17psi
I matched his acceleration with the car in 5th and then we went at it again and I put it in 3rd and that's when I walked him. both were from a 55mph roll. |

when I get a logger and can tune, I will up the boost and lean it out more. I should have no problem walking him than. Looking at bartons old setings, he was running 3 more psi and was leaner than I am.

there is defenitly an exhaust leak but I think it is after the turbo. Mike adjusted the wastegate before I put it on. It has a 10 cm housing though. THe exhaust leak makes it sound completely different than before.
|
what did he have to adjust to the waiste gate?
I got full spool at 4100rpms (but I have HKS Cams) so figure on stock cams that should be a few 100 rpms less. Definetely do a boost leak test - car was dyno'd and then drove for 2-3 days when my rear diff seal failed. And then the turbo was taken off. And if I remember correctly even on the dyno full spool was around 4100rpms? -brian |
he thought the wastegate was out/in to far I think. I don't remember though.

First off the Evo kid was a driver with new mitsu plates on. He was like 16-18 max and we had seen him out cursin, looking for a race it seemed. He might of been breaking in the engine which im thinking he was but, i question the responsibility of Wayzata kids and how the treat there cars and refuse to loose even if involes lying.
James car is tunned with a SAFC-I. Hes running on a S20g with a 10cm2 ech housing i thought....(correct me if im wrong james/john). They have no loggin data for the car the just lean it out a tit bit for daily driving and what not i belive. I to think they could get the thign to spool around 4k but not int'll they get a logger and cable. |
Spool should not have much to do with tuning (unless you are going for 50 psi). You are right on the turbo, HRC 20g w/ 10cm housing. From what Brian was running on this setup, we can raise the boost about 3 psi and lean it out even more than now. We do not want to push it until he gets some sort of logger or dsmlink.

problem solved, error in assembly/bolt length resulting in blown turbo to manifold gasket.
Let us know how it spools now w/the new 7cm in it ;). |
It spools a little over 4000, maybe 4500. It still has an exhaust leak coming from the spacer plate. Too lazy to pull the turbo again to fix it though. I beat a BMW 745 last night and tryed to race a 3kgt. The 3KGT had exhaust, headlight covers and GTO on the back. I have seen his sometime before. He didn't want to race though. I was pretty mad.

What color was the GTO? there is a guy here at work that drives a black one with Chrome Rims. Looks tight as hell. But I haven't talked to him yet. (afraid somone will catch on to my bending of the rules of internet usage)
